The "Jump into Fantasy" Challenge

About the Challenge
The Challenge's total duration will be 4 months, but not all participants will manage to make it till there. The Challenge will be separated into 4 phases, each of them is based on a popular fantasy novel, but the prompts can be easily understood and complited, even if you haven't read those books, so you can join anyway.

The prompts do not contain any spoilers for the books, I just put them on a spoiler tag so as not to make a too lengthy post


- Phase 1: Hogwarts
Members will be separated into 4 teams (by us), and will be named after the 4 Harry Potter Houses. Prompts for each team will be different, but there will also be some common prompts all teams can use. This phase of the challenge will start on August 1st, and on August 31st, it will close. The team with the less points, will leave the challenge, and not continue to phase 2. So, only 3 teams will manage to continue.

House Gryffindor
1. read a book with a red or gold cover.
2. read a book with a brave character.
3. read a book whose title's first letter is "G"
4. read a book with a lion in cover
5. read a book with a main character whose name's first letter is "G"


House Slytherin
1. read a book with a green or silver cover.
2. read a book with a sneaky character.
3. read a book whose title's first letter is "S"
4. read a book with a snake in cover
5. read a book with a main character whose name's first letter is "S"


House Hufflepuff
1. read a book with a yellow or black cover.
2. read a book with a loyal character.
3. read a book whose title's first letter is "H"
4. read a book with a badger in cover
5. read a book with a main character whose name's first letter is "H"


House Ravenclaw
1. read a book with a blue or bronze cover.
2. read a book with a wise character.
3. read a book whose title's first letter is "R"
4. read a book with an eagle in cover
5. read a book with a main character whose name's first letter is "R"

2. read a book with a character that can do magic.
3. read a magic realism book.
4. read a book that is #1 in a series.

- Phase 2: Westeros
All members who managed to make it till this phase, will continue with the same team, but this time with a different name. They will be given the name of a main Asoiaf house, Lannister, Stark or Targaryen. The prompts will work again the same way. Prompts for each team will be different, but there will also be some common prompts all teams can use. This phase of the challenge will start on September 1st, and on September 30th, it will close. The team with the less points, will leave the challenge, and not continue to phase 3. So, only 2 teams will make it to the next phase.

3. read a book where the word "fire" or the word "blood" can be found in title
4. read a book with a strong character.

House Stark
Winter is Coming
1. read a book with a white or gray cover.
2. read a book whose title's first letter is "S'
3. read a book where the word "winter" or the word "coming" can be found in title.
4. read a book with a loyal character.
5. read a book with a wolf on cover.


House Lannister
Hear me roar
1. read a book with a red or gold cover.
2. read a book whose title's first letter is "L"
3. read a book where the word "hear" or the word "roar" can be found it title.
4. read a book with a clever character.
5. read a book with a lion in cover.

-Phase 3: Middle Earth
Only 2 teams will make it till here! This time, they will be named after 2 Lotr species: The hobbits and the elves! The prompts will work again the same way. Prompts for each team will be different, but there will also be some common prompts all teams can use. This phase of the challenge will start on October 1st, and on October 31st, it will close. The team with the less points, will leave the challenge, and not continue to phase 4. So, only 1 team, will manage to get to the last phase!

The Elves

5. read a book with stars, the moon, or water in cover.

- Phase 4: Wonderland
One team only, from the 4 that started, will make it till here! And now it is where the challenge becomes individual! Prompts are the same for everyone, and each member works seperatly, as they would on an idividual challenge. The prompts are based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland chapters. Each chapter offers 3 prompts. This phase of the challenge will start on November 1st, and on November 30th it will close. The member who will have collected the most points, will be the winner of the challenge, the sole survivor who managed to make it through Hogwarts, Westeros, Middle Earth and Wonderland! As an award, they'll be mod in this group for a week!

The Rabbit Sends in a Little Bill
1. read a book with a lizard in cover.
2. read a book with a character named Bill.
3. read a book where all the letters SEND can be found in title, or in the author's name.

Advice from a Caterpillar
1. read a book with a mushroom in cover.
2. read a book with a wise character.
3. read a book where all the letters ADVICE can be found in title, or in the author's name.

Pig and Pepper
1. read a book with a pig in cover.
2. read a book with a character who likes cooking.

A Mad Tea Party

The Queen’s Croquet Ground

The Lobster Quadrille

Who Stole the Tarts?
1. read a book with a tart in cover.
2. read a book with a character who has stolen something.
3. read a book where all the letters WHO can be found in title, or in the author's name.

Alice's Evidence
1. read a book with a queen or king in cover.
2. read a book with a character who often dreams or day-dreames.
3. Read a book where all the letters ALICE can be found in title, or in the author's name.

What you need to know about the challenge/ rules
1. Teams will stay the same from phase 1 to phase 3, there will not be reogranising.
2. Every time a new phase begins, points start again from 0. (For example, if a team has collected 143 points in phase 2, and moves on to phase 3, they will start again with 0 points.)
3. Each prompt can be used more that once, but each book can fit only one prompt.
4. The prompts can be used in any order, and you can complete as many as you want.
5. Books with less that 100 pages will not count.


Scoring
1. Each prompt earns you 2 points.
2. If it is our group's BOTM, you get 5 points extra.
3. If it is a buddy read in our group, you get 5 points extra.
4. Page Counting: (counts after 300 pages):
300 pages - 1 point
350 pages - 2 points
400 pages - 3 points
450 pages - 4 points
500 pages - 5 points
And so on…
5. If you write a review you get 2 points extra. (but 4 line reviews don't count as reviews)
6. For the last phase only, if you complete all the prompts of a chapter, you get extra 5 points.

Hi- what if I listened to an audiobook? Does that count? If so how do I count it?

Hey! So i saw dreamer answer this question for someone in my team and she said audiobooks do count and youd just log the number of pgs the physical book has. Hope that helps!
