There were 2 short story collections written by the same author and contained stories within the same universe. I feel like they were somewhat spooky/paranormal or contained stories that were a little bit off putting (I was also an insanely sensitive child). One that I remember specifically was about a grandfather who lived in a cabin and he had cloud children and one of them disobeyed him and turned her back into clouds. Also something to do with hot dogs on the covers or weenies and maybe weenie people lawn mowing???

read probably 2006-2010ish. cover art was graphic and sort of similar to captain underpants maybe????

I remembered that there were a few of them but I think I was specifically thinking of the first and second in the series!
