it's not a bad idea to have two Kindles. I have multiple ones and I keep one in my messenger bag all the time for when I have to go places and I use the other one to read on at home. That way, if one fails, I still have the other one to read
I totally agree with CBRetriever--I cannot imagine being without at least one additional working Kindle (we actually have 8 working Kindles as I have updated every 2-3 years). As you are asking for advice, I highly recommend ordering a newer Kindle as a 7-8 years' old device is very old in the electronics world.
Thank you! Will certainly consider that. Actually I have an old basic kindle (without back light) as back up... But that does not support my Language. The newer ones do. So I think I will take up your advice.

However, when the battery was around 20% or so the screen came back and has so far stayed fine. All the change I did was to change my cover back to old one I had.
Just couple of weeks before the issue popped up, I flipped the Kindle case to a Leather one which did not have auto screen off compared to my old one which had auto screen off. Not sure if that was the trigger.
I have cancelled my oder for servcice and New Kindle since. But should I be ordering a new one?
Anybody had face this before? I would be glad if there are any advice.
