i read this book series around 2015-2017 and it had 3 books released at the time. the female protagonist is born on earth and has a rare illness that makes it difficult to travel through the portals but she ends up on a space crew and has to keep it a secret. lives on some space station with others her age, male love interest is kinda mean in the beginning. i believe theres a point where a portal is closing and they both get left behind. cover of one of the books is white with a girl posing in a futuristic space suit with orange and purple smoke surrounding her.
