While my reading was moving in different directions, I had one last paperback sleeping on my shelves. I decided to dust it off for a nice beach read.

In 1916, newly divorcedRoberta Jewett moves back to her hometown of Camden, Maine with her 3 adolescent daughters, so they could get to know their grandmother and the rest of the family. Bertie is a forward thinking woman who has trained as a nurse and will be working as a Public Health Nurse in Camden.

Camden in that time was an insular society with strict rules and party lines, which served as a method to relay gossip. As one might expect of a seaside village there are times for digging clams and picnics on the shore.

I enjoyed the information about Model T's and Public Nursing. It was fun to imagine life in a seaside village at that time.

This is a romance but one which I found quite enjoyable.
