Oh. I love Emily Woo Zeller's narration style! Just because of her I'm sure that I'll be attached to these characters.
Ch 2 - I saved your life. Make sure I don't regret it. <--- this is going to be a rocky relationship haha
There was a power outage for a bit so I had no distractions and got a decent amount of this read so I'll comment retroactively.
I for one did not like this book. I wish I could remember why but did not write a review and I forgot a lot of what happened. I do remember that I really loved how this book started and I got less and less into it. I also remember that I would have found this story a lot more interesting if we were following the main character's mother
I don't know if you have watched the Bookmarked live show on this book but if you have I feel like how Zoe looked that whole live, kind of feeling bad that this was a miss for me
Yh I was pretty over it from early in but kept pushing because there was still so much book left
Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret--she's a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.
But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead--her gumiho soul--in the process.
Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl--he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He's drawn to her anyway.
With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon's.
