Definitely welcome! Super excited to start this soon!I do have to apologize in advance. The audio is only about 5.5 hours. I'm not sure I have enough self control to only listen to an hour a day but I will try.
Has anyone else started this?
I think I read the % for today. I like that it's fast to read, but other than that I'm not a fan of verse books.

I just did. I really love Elizabeth Acevedo's style and enjoy the verse when she narrates. Such a solid start. I've already cried though. :(
I also started today. The audiobook narration makes a lot more sense now that I know the story is told in verse. I'm enjoying it so far, but I also almost cried.

Can I jump ahead too now? It has been a struggle to stop!

Yeah absolutely! I've also struggled to stop which is why I'm probably gonna finish today 😂
Just finished! This is now my third Elizabeth Acevedo book. It was really good but definitely darker than the other ones. There were more external difficulties- (view spoiler). I was also slightly mixed with the two different narrators. It was important to have both voices here but I think I prefer the others with one voice.
I didn't have much time to read these last two days so I'm behind, I think I'm somewhere close to the half way mark or close to it.
Even though I'm not a fan of verse books, I'm growing to like this one. And being told in verse gives it a.. more realistic and sharper feel? I'm not sure if those are the words I wanted to use but *shrugs* let's go with it since I can't think of anything else. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it today so that I can read Poet X (I started it, read a few pages and I thought what happened there was here so.. no more mixing)

@Abigail, I totally agree! @Mina, Acevedo does verse really well, still a strong narrative. I hope you like them both. I like the idea of it being sharper.
I didn't finish it, and I don't want to push it because I have some other things to do before going to bed. *fingers crossed* tomorrow.
Gosh, what kind of family Yahaira has! Who the hell comes to complain about not having enough money for a ring while someone is dead in that family, like wtf. And he's not the only one.
