Planetside by Michael Mammay was an excellent military SF thriller/mystery. I gave it a 4 star review here:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I have Mammay in my list of SF authors to try but I'm yet to get to his books
I found the complete Planetside trilogy in one of my libraries in audio format, FWIW. As I wrote in my review, the narrator does a great job.
I finished Under Fortunate Stars by Ren Hutchings, published in 2022. My review https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
I've finished The Employees by Olga Ravn, English translation published in 2022, original Danish text in 2018. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished 2022 novel The Thousand Earths by Stephen Baxter, my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Asimov's Science Fiction July-August 2022 and reviewed it here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Analog Science Fiction and Fact July/August 2022, a solid issue, my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
2022 SF with religious notes Our Lady of the Artilects by Andrew Gillsmith, my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
In January I read Our Lady of the Artilects by Andrew Gillsmith. It was, in my opinion, an unusual mix of sci fi and religion. The premise is that an advanced robot (called a synth) is overtaken by a demon so several entities, including the Catholic Church send people to investigate. I found it rather interesting!

I'm reading my first Alastair Reynolds novel as well: Pushing Ice. It's quite good and I too will be reading more by him

Natalie wrote: "I'm reading my first Alastair Reynolds novel as well: Pushing Ice. He was so far hit-or-miss author for me, some works are great, others meh
Finished Asimov's Science Fiction, September/October 2022, a very strong issue, best last year I guess. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Termination Shock (2021) by Neal Stephenson, his latest (so far) novel. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Galaxy’s Edge Magazine: Issue 56, May 2022, a solid but not great issue, my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Children of Memory (2022) by Adrian Tchaikovsky, my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've finished 2022 release of short stories Valuable Humans in Transit and Other Stories by qntm, my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Oleksandr wrote: "I finished 2022 novel A Half-Built Garden My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show..."Glad to see you liked it too. I was impressed, 4-stars worth. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Peter wrote: "Glad to see you liked it too. I was impressed, 4-stars worth..."I loved the ideas but execution wasn't always on the level. Like alien sex you've mentioned - they do not second guess that aliens attitudes toward sex can be different, like e.g of mantis...
I recently read The Mountain in the Sea. I really enjoyed it. I liked how the marine biologist worked through figuring out the symbols a group of octopi were showing her to communicate. The book has 3 storylines too so it does a good job of maintaining tension throughout. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Natalie wrote: "I recently read The Mountain in the Sea. I really enjoyed it. ."I enjoyed it too. A small bonus was that russia fell apart in that future :)
Today I quit How High We Go in the Dark after 20%. I was looking forward to read it, a story about mankind dealing with a virus that appeared in the melting permafrost of Siberia. Compared to Cloud Atlas and Station Eleven, both books I liked a lot. But this one, I just could not hold my attention to the story.
I've finished The Ship Whisperer - SF stories collection by Julie Nováková. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Leo wrote: "Today I quit How High We Go in the Dark after 20%. I was looking forward to read it, a story about mankind dealing with a virus that appeared in the melting permafrost of Siberia. C..."Thanks, Leo. I was vaguely aware of this one, but I don't think I'll be pursuing it now!
Incidentally, Julie Nováková's reprint collection "Strangest of All: Anthology of Astrobiological Science Fiction" is available free online. Details & download links: https://www.julienovakova.com/strange...I'll be reading it shortly!
I just finished Cory Doctorow‘s Red Team Blues. I’m beginning to slog my way through Adrian Tchaikovsky’s, Lords of Uncreation.

I think you should like it, since you enjoy the stories in Nature mag. This is produced by a scientific institute and each story has an accompanying description of the relevant science.

Thanks for the story notes! I probably won't read every story, but may try some.
There is a larger, new follow-up collection called Life Beyond Us. It isn't free, but is otherwise similar.

Peter: I just read the Peter Watts story in that book. (It is also published alone as The Island and free in several places.)
I was disappointed by the only other Watts I'd read, but this one was great! I want to read more from the related stories.

Not sure if I’m posting this in the correct place as the folder said 2015 and up then the only thread within that folder is 2020 and up. Anywho, I just signed up for Kindle Unlimited and it looks like those Murderbot novelas that I’ve been hearing about are included so I’ll start the first one All Systems Red.
This is the correct folder. Natalie just finished changing our reading periods that the folders are based on. You can read the announcement in that folder:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Enjoy the Murderbot stories. They're great, IMO. Only one (#5?) is a full length novel. The rest are shorter & perfect for what they cover. No wasted words, but plenty to keep my interest.
I finished the light-hearted time travel novel
In the Shadow of Time by Kevin Ansbro
