Holland’s friend, Courtney, claimed to back off from pursuing Dax once she realized they had an existing relationship. Did you believe her at the time or was she always waiting in the wings?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments She is another person that I didn't trust. I thought Courtney was flirting with Dax after she knew he was with Holland. She just shows up in the bar where Dax is drinking and runs off the Vegas then marries him. She had her plan and executed it as soon as the opportunity presented.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I actually thought she might end up being part of the conspiracy, and the purpose of her friendship with Holland was to keep an eye on her.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments I felt like the authors needed a little more background or development of Courtney. I still don't understand the purpose except to breakup Dax and Courtney.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments You both paint her as a cold, calculating, mercenary Bi**h! I didn't think she was quite that bad, but I didn't like her at all. I do think she was waiting for a breakup.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments I think she was cold. If I knew my friend was in a relationship in the morning, then that night her boyfriend is drunk and asks me to go to Vegas my answer is no. I would call my friend to find out what happened at a minimum.

As soon as Courtney discovered Dax and Holland had a history, the girl code between friends makes him forever unavailable to her. Period. Even after she found out, Courtney was still flirty with Dax, almost like she was waiting to swoop in.

I never believed her. Like you, Lynn, I had a teeny suspicion for a time that she might be part of the conspiracy, too.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1811 comments While I did not believe she was part of the conspiracy (there was nothing to suggest a connection at all), I do not think she was a good friend to Holland. She was obviously jealous of Holland and Dax's relationship, and she jumped at the opportunity to be with him when it arose.

A good friend would not have gone to Vegas with an obviously distraught and inebriated man, and she certainly would not have married him.

Nope. No way, no how. She left Holland in the dust at the first opportunity.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I was really shocked that her friend would just up and run off to Vegas and marry the man Holland had just ended things with. Wow...just wow.
