I am not really sure what your title is asking but The Gods Themselves is written in 3 parts. Not sure if this is the book you are looking for.

Do you mean the three sections of a single book are written in reverse chronological order -- the last section is about the oldest time period?

The Gods Themselves starts with Chapter Six and then fills in to give the background - which might be what he's thinking about in terms of being written backwards
