Jodi (justjodi) The book is from the 1970s, I believe, and I think the author is Canadian and perhaps of East Asian background. The title is the name of the man and woman (starts with an "S") who corresponded with each other, writing letters and postcards to each other. The book was very beautiful and many of the letters, postcards, and envelopes could actually be removed from the book!

In my memory, I associate the book with Michael Ondaatje, Rohinton Mistry, etc., so the author may simply be of the same era. It was a gorgeous book, and I think it was quite popular in the day. It's really bothering me, so I hope one of you knows what I'm talking about.

Thanks so much!

Jessica | 62 comments It sounds very much like S. (I was just looking for this book a while back myself- it's hard to find with a single letter name)
