Lizzy Siddal (Lizzy’s Literary Life) | 302 comments The Helen and Kurt Wolff Prize is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Here’s a short piece by the chair, Shelley Frisch, in celebration thereof.

i have 3 titles from the shortlist on my TBR that I wish to read before the year is out. Where will I start?

An Inventory of Losses - Judith Schalansky ***winner***
Kraft: A Novel - Kraft - Jonas Lüscher
Beside Myself - Sasha Mariana Salzmann

The one you choose will be our group read for Q3 2021. 😉

Penelope | 167 comments They all sound really good. I think my choice would be An Inventory of Losses by Judith Schalansky. Thanks Lizzie. I have really enjoyed reading Kehlmann. My posts on Goodreads are a bit behind.

I’ll leave this open for one more day. If nothing changes, I get to use my casting vote for the first time.

Annix I have read Schalansky‘s Hals der Giraffe and really enjoyed, though it wasn‘t exactly an uplifting read. I have never read Lüscher or Salzmann, but Lüscher is on my reading list because somebody recommeded him to me (I think). So I would vote for him.

Lizzy Siddal (Lizzy’s Literary Life) | 302 comments Votes 2:1 for Lüscher. (Would have been 3:1 with my vote, given that I will get to the Schalanksy anyway, because of her win.. Probably during German Literature Month in November. We can buddy read then , if you like, Penelope.

Penelope | 167 comments That’s a good idea thanks. I’ll look for a copy of the Luscher and have plenty to look forward. 😊
