ellie (rebelkitten12) Caledonia was shocked at someone actually "taking care" of her? If that was what Pearl was doing was even called. She didn't know what to say as Pearl whispered her nickname in an alluring way in her ear, causing whips of brown hair to tickle her temple, or what to say as her roommate shoved chips and cookies into her hands--both of which Cal hardly ever ate--and then pulled her to a corner. "Um., tha--" she started, but then Pearl pulled her onto her lap. Cal gaped and dropped the food, whirling around. "The hell are you doing?" She gasped, shocked and unsure what was going on. More shocked than anything else.

"A date?" Cole was frantic now. Panicked. Sasha was darling, sweet, confident, and endearing, and he really liked all of that about her. No, he liked her. "I-I-I can't date you," he choked out. "It would only end in disaster, I..." Cole looked around the room, the lights the music, the people and alcohol and food. All of it swam together, and for once in his life he wanted to escape the party scene. It was too noisy and crowded, people pressed against his back and sides. He took a long swig of beer, maybe too big, as it stung his mouth and the back of his throat as he swallowed. "It's a bad idea, a very very bad idea," he whispered, even though he wanted to smile when she poked his cheek. He had sought her out, invited her here. And now was saying no to a date when he'd admitted he liked her.

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments "What? You're just sitting down Cal, don't be a prude," Pearl replied with a look that said she was wondering what Caledonia was doing, and why was she fighting her? Pearl would've done it with a friend, she sat on her guy friends laps sometimes, and her girl friends laps. Pearl was just trying to give her the best view of the room while having fun at the same time. Pearl could whisper in her ear, and laugh with her if she sat in her lap. Was that wrong? Pearl rethought everything she'd done, maybe she was being too forward? Sometimes she could be that way, and this instance seemed like one of these times.

Sasha's face fell when he claimed that he couldn't date her, she tried not to have hurt feelings but it was hard. She felt the tears coming but bit down on the inside of her cheek until it bled so that they wouldn't fall. "Okay," she started backing up, she bumped into someone, "Oh sorry," She said in a squeaky voice, before turning and walking quickly away from Cole, so she wasn't what he was looking for apparently? Sasha planned on going back to her dorm at first, but then remembered the drink in her hand and made up her mind to stay and drink. Cole wasn't going to run her off just by saying she wasn't what he was looking for. She ducked into the other room and drank her drink quickly, swallowing every drop before going to look for more alcohol.

ellie (rebelkitten12) "A prude?" Caledonia spat. "Excuse me? Look, you just pulled me on your lap! What--what the--I don't know what you're doing, I'm not used to--to this." She gestured madly at Pearl and then herself and the space between them. All night Pearl had been grabbing her hand, whispering into her ear, and oddly, it made Caledonia's stomach flip, and Pearl's whisper into her ear had made her cheeks flush a little. She knew what was happening, she was, or her body was, anyway, attracted to Pearl. But Caledonia had never indulged anything like that before; she was a damn government agent, not a weak-willed schoolgirl. And nobody had ever been so forward with her. Actually, they had, and she'd beat their asses--Cole's, Ollie's, and someone from home. Caledonia could keep her head under gunfire and threats, but right now she had no idea how to act. She was at war with herself, liking Pearl's attention against every single one of her better judgments while those judgements tried to fight her.

"Wait!" Cole gaped; his stomach sunk at Sasha's tears, he hadn't meant to make her cry. Usually, when girls cried over him he liked it, knowing he held power and popularity. But now, why did Sasha's opinion of him matter? Why did her feelings matter to him? "No, no, I..." She vanished, and then a few minutes later came back out looking for something. He watched, unsure what to do and feeling guilty and horrible. Finally, he couldn't take it, and walked over to her. "Sasha I never meant to hurt you, I'm to protect you, from me. And I...can I explain myself? Please?" He didn't want to talk about it. But if it would spare her feelings, maybe he needed to.

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Pearl let her defenses drop and reached for Cal's hand, but then stuffed her hands in her pockets to keep from touching her. "I'm sorry, maybe I was a bit forward. I just...." Pearl wound a piece of hair around her finger, nervous. "I guess I like you... or something," Pearl looked down at her feet, blushing. "I can come off strong, don't mean to. I was being like one of those ass hats. Can you forgive me?" She finally looked up into Cal's eyes. Pearl felt butterflies in her stomach as their eyes met. She knew that this could be really complicated if she allowed it to be, but she wasn't about to let it get that way. She'd made enough mistakes in her life, she didn't need to make more.

Sasha picked up a drink and started drinking it, she saw Cole beelining for her and felt like running instead she stayed still to see what he would say. He was trying to say he didn't mean to hurt her, well how did he think she would feel after he said that? "Stop, just stop. You don't need to explain, I'm not your type, I get it." She downed some more of the drink in her hand, her head was a bit fuzzy now, and she was wondering if this was the best idea. Sasha didn't like that he was here trying to say he was protecting her, if he was trying to protect her he was doing a terrible job. She'd pushed the tears back, but she was starting to feel them coming back.

ellie (rebelkitten12) Caledonia stared into Pearl's eyes, lovely and warm. She didn't know what to say. "I--" And now she was at a loss of words? That never happened. Caledonia hated small talk, but she could do it if she needed to. She had to know how to do it, it was a part of her job. And she could scream at someone for days. But now? She tried again. "I...damn it, look, I think I like you, too, okay? I just...growing up with the life I had, it...isn't super relationship-friendly. I mean, they happen, but I've always pushed...this...aside. And I think the reason I didn't try and kick your ass for this is because I...after we got off on a better foot last night, I realized you're not a bad person and you share some of the same--I don't know, look, I just...trusted you, for some reason, and usually I'm right on my gut feelings. And because I liked what you touch did to me." Her cheeks were red. So red now. "I forgive you, you're not like those jerks. And I respect that you...are respecting what I feel. But..." She looked down at the hand Pearl had almost touched her own with. "I do...like you, too, I think," she murmured.

"That isn't what--" He cut himself off and gently took the drink from her. "Don't...don't do that, you know it won't end well and you've never had alcohol before, you don't know your limits." He set it aside, and turned back around to see tears glittering in her eyes. Cole didn't;t know what to do. He truly didn't want to hurt her, but clearly either options would. Of course he wanted to date her, but he couldn't forget the last time. The last time he was an ass and had--ruined everything. "That isn't what I meant, I don't know my type, I like all girls, okay?" He pinched his nose. "No. No, no, not what I meant--look, I like you, I said I did, okay? Sasha...it's...I had a relationship that went south and I can't risk that happening to you," he finally burst. "I can't risk you getting hurt because of me."

message 162: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Pearl watched as Caledonia was speechless for a moment, she was surprised honestly. Then she began talking and Pearl liked her all the more. It was a lot, and she was all over the place, and it was perfect. Pearl couldn't have explained it better if she tried, this time she didn't hold back and pulled Cal toward her for a hug, "Well we'll figure it out together, kay? Should I shout it out that the boys should stay away? Or is that too much?" She asked teasingly, well half teasing. If Cal really wanted her to shout it out to the world that she liked her, she'd do it in a heartbeat. Pearls heart was thudding, she was afraid Cal would be able to hear it, she was just excited that Pearl was feeling the chemistry too. "Now, lets see what's going on in this room," She patted the chair beside her for Cal, since she wasn't ready to be sitting in laps yet.

"Oh so you're allowed to drink but I can't? Hypocrite," She said with a huff, Sasha folded her arms over her chest and looked up at Cole with defiance in her face. "You like all girls?" She squeaked, but then he was saying no and the he liked her. It was all so confusing that she wanted to pull her hair out and scream. Then suddenly it all made sense, he didn't want to hurt her, and he thought she would get hurt if they were together. "Well that's silly, have you met me? I don't tend to be in the middle of danger, except in danger of crying because of stupid boys," She looked pointedly at him, "If you like me, and I like you, we should go on a date."

message 163: by ellie (last edited Jun 18, 2021 01:15PM) (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) Caledonia hesitated. Together? Well, she could be a team player if she had to be. But that's what hit her; besides not used to these emotional romantic feelings, she was used to being in charge of situations. And right now she felt she had no control and no power. She gaped when Pearl hugged her; the only people she'd ever hugged were two close friends and, on occasion, her mom. And yet, something about Pearl's embrace was the same as her touch, but on a larger scale. Cal felt some weird giddiness shoot through her body, and after a moment's hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Pearl, too. "Okay," she finally replied with a nod. "And, well, we could tell them to stay away, but I wouldn't mind kicking their asses, either." She pulled back and nodded, sitting down into the chair next to Pearl and the taking a rather large gulp of her cocktail. She could have a romantic relationship, couldn't she? Nobody had ever said that was against the rules of her missions here, and they had said to be a student. Students did this, and besides, what she felt was real, as much as she was unsure how to proceed. It was a vulnerability, and she wanted to destroy it.

"I know my limits," Cole protested. "Even if I never listen to them. I'm trying to help you." He was at a loss for words when she went off at him; no girls did that, they never did that. Yet here she was, being direct and honest but in a way where nobody was hanging all over him the way girls in clubs tended to do. And it was...nice. The girl he'd dated before had been quieter, not assertive like Sasha, and while Cole was amused to say the least, he also found something startling. He respected Sasha for this. He didn't know why, but he did. Maybe it was after two years of being unable to escape what he'd done, he'd finally realized that he needed to own up to his mistake, and while this situation wasn't that, it was still impacted by his mistake. "It's not silly, Sasha," he whispered. "I almost got someone fired from a job that's kind of hard to get into in the first place," he mumbled. "Actually I did get her sacked, but someone else managed to get her hired again. And I wasn't respectful of her and didn't take responsibility for any of it. You don't want to be with me, how can you? I admit I'm kind of a jerk, you saw me last night. I love my drink and I love pretty girls, and the first of those isn't going away anytime soon. I do like you, I really do. You're assertive, feisty, cute, and endearing. But you don't want to date me. you'll see things that aren't very pretty."

message 164: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments "Well I wouldn't mind kicking their asses either, but we could do that together?" Why should Caledonia have to do everything by herself, Pearl thought that was bullshit. There should be some give and take, and she wasn't about people taking from Caledonia, but she was all about giving to her. Pearl held Cal's hand as she people watched, making sure there were no disturbances that would need her roommates attention, she wouldn't call her girlfriend, yet. But she would eventually, if things progressed. "I think we should interrupt that over there," She said waving at pig, he looked like he was having an altercation with a girl, and that was not acceptable. What was his name? She couldn't remember if Cal had told her his name or not so she stopped trying to remember it.

He thought because he knew his limits he knew hers? That just couldn't be true, but she didn't think it was worth the breath to argue over that right then. Instead she left the drink where it was and kept her attention on Cole, he admitted some heavy stuff to her, and she felt herself wanting to reach out to comfort him. Things were obviously complicated, but did that mean they shouldn't try? Why did the past define him so much? Hadn't he heard of Hakuna Matata? She sighed, she had a kind of buzz going and he was ruining it. "You know what? I don't care if you were a jerk, or are a jerk. You don't get to make the decision for me on whether I date someone or not. If you don't want to date me just because you don't like me, fine. I won't talk to you again, but to not date me because you think its whats best for me? Let me decide that!" She jutted out her chin and looked up at him, her eyes fiery, "I can take care of myself." With that she leaned forward, on her tiptoes, and kissed his cheek. "Let me know when you decide to grow up a little bit," She said in his ear before grabbing the drink and going to dance with some random guy.

message 165: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "I guess we could do that," she admitted. "It would be nice." Caledonia looked around the room, and she stopped upon seeing Cole with an angry flush on his face as Sasha moved away from him. She groaned internally; the jerk had probably offended her, and she'd grill him on it later. Cal turned to where Pearl was waving and followed her gaze. She froze. Ollie. "Oh, dammit, he's tormenting someone else." She sighed. "May as well, and hey, I could afford to blow off some steam, and he's a great punching bag." She stood up, taking Pearl with her. "Let's go."

Cole stared in utter, complete shock. For once in his life when it came to women, he was at a loss for words. So many thoughts ran through his head, but he couldn't grasp one. He'd seen a fiery look in a few girls' eyes once, and twice it hadn't ended well for him. Granted, Sasha wasn't probably skilled in martial arts--actually he didn't know--but he was still stunned, and backed up a little. Maybe he was a little; hurt, too. He liked her; he didn't want to drag her down with his issues, and yet she acted like they didn't matter when they did matter. They mattered to him. And yet she kissed him? And grow up a bit? "Excuse me?" He finally choked out. Nobody got away with telling him off like that! "I never said you couldn't--" He stopped as she walked off. It was useless, but Cole was now angry. He stooped and grabbed a second glass of beer. Fine. If Sasha was going to be like this, he had no reason to remain sober. This was a party and he'd do best to remember that.

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Pearl let out a happy sound, she was so ready to kick some ass, she'd been waiting for this. Cal led them toward the boy who seemed to be in a heated argument with some poor girl, she looked pretty upset too, but in a 'I'm pissed at you' kind of way. Cal could take lead, Pearl would follow with this one.

Ollie breathed out an, "Oh shit." Before the girl from before was next to him with some other girl in tow. "What do you want?" He asked her folding his arms over his chest, more to protect himself than anything else. The girl behind the one that had kicked his ass poked her head around and glared at him. "And who are you?" He barked, not liking that all of these girls were ganging up on him at once. Where was Rowan anyway? He was supposed to be helping handle this kind of shit.

Pearl did not like the fact that pig was addressing Cal in such a manner, she poked her head out and gave him a good glare, before saying, "Ass hat! Why don't you be a bit more respectful?" She tossed her hair to the side before looking at Cal, waiting for her to make the next move.

Sasha danced with some dude that had really grabby hands, she kept pushing him off though, mostly she was just needing a distraction from Cole. She'd been rejected from him, over and over again. She wasn't sure what to do with that, especially since he seemed to really like her. He had issues, he would have to work through those issues if they were going to date, which she still wanted to do, a pout formed on her face, and she tried walking away from the guy that she'd been dancing with. He grabbed her wrist, Sasha yanked her hand away from him, "Leave me alone," She half-yelled before looking around for someone familiar, but the guy grabbed her around the waist this time, "Look I know you're just trying to be friendly, but I'm about to stomp on your toes," She said and giggled, it wasn't funny, but she couldn't help it. She did indeed stomp on his toes, he released her and she stumbled forward.

message 167: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) Caledonia reached out and gave Ollie a hard shove in the chest, taking his drink and tossing it aside. "You're making someone else upset, pig-ass," she greeted. "And don't speak to my roommate that way. Or this other girl." She tilted her head, dark hair sliding down one cheek, and didn't give Pearl's name; it annoyed Ollie not to know her name, and it was amusing, and he didn't need to know anyway. "I think you're scared," She finally declared with a small smile, and couldn't help it as she reached one hand down to audibly let out the safety of her pistol, just to see his reaction. "You missed me, didn't you?" She asked him.

Cole, meanwhile, was on his third beer now. Not a great idea. His vision was a it blurred and his head was spinning now, and he searched the room for someone to talk or dance with. His gaze fell on Sasha, watching in rising anger as someone grabbed her many times even after it was clear she didn't like that. Before he knew what he was doing, he went over and grabbed the guy she'd made stagger forward--and oh, how sweet it was that she'd stepped on his feet--and smashed his hand into the guy's nose. "Touch her again and I'll eat your ass," he threatened in a low voice.

message 168: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Ollie wasn't sure how to react, if he was hostile, well that didn't go well, if he was sweet, well that didn't go well either. His options were extremely limited, he staggered back when the girl pushed him, his drink was gone suddenly, his temper flared. But he wasn't about to let it get the better of him, "She came up to me first," He defended himself, then looked around for his roommate, hell had he jet? "Look I don't want any trouble," He said in as even a voice as he could, "I think this young lady was about to tell me what I could do to make it up to her that I didn't meet up with her earlier.... or invite her to the party."

Pearl rose both brows when Cal shoved the guy, he didn't seem to like that much, she saw flames in his eyes, actual flames, when she did that. Pearl had to wonder what kind of power this guy had. She moved to the side so that she helped block him in, between the three girls he wasn't going anywhere.

Sasha was just straightening up when she heard a crunch, she looked back to see Cole hitting the guy, it looked like his nose was broken. "Oh my gods Cole," She said and walked over to him, she took his hand in hers to check it, there was slight abrasions to his hand. "Are you okay?" She asked him tenderly, all hurt, worry, and other emotions gone from before. She just wanted to make sure he was okay in that moment, all other thoughts disappeared from her head. Sasha Darling ripped a part of her dress off and used it to wrap around Coles hand, she bandaged it up with a careful neatness that said she'd done this before for someone else. She did have a bunch of Neverland brothers back home that would get banged up all of the time.

message 169: by ellie (last edited Jun 18, 2021 06:12PM) (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Oh yeah? I don't think so. You're just fabricating another asshat story, thinking all girls want to go out with you. Haven't I shot that through your head enough that they don't? And I'm just looking out for others at this school. I do that, I look after people I don't know. It's kind of a job," she stated with a one-shouldered shrug, deciding not to tell him she worked for the government unless things went to shit real fast. "And nice flame-eyes," she stated with an eye roll. "If I were you, I wouldn't burn the school down, imagine the repercussions for that."
She smirked when Pearl blocked him in; was it bad Cal liked messing with him?

From across the room, Rowan had been digging into some snacks and people-watching for fun when he saw the girl Ollie had nodded at. No, wait, he saw Ollie...with the girl. "Oh, no," he mumbled, and ran over, sliding between the brunette and her...roommate? Friend? He didn't know. "Ollie," Rowan greeted. And then looked at the girls; his eyes widened as he followed the brunette's hand. It was on a trigger of a pistol. "O-okay, maybe we can all cool down a little?" He asked desperately. "I'm Rowan, Ollie's roommate."

"You a jackass too?" The girl asked flatly. "Actually, I could background check you."

A shiver darted down Rowan's spine. "What?" He choked. 'Okay, no, I'm not, I'm trying to stop whatever this is!" He gestured between her and her friend and Ollie, madly. "Because shooting someone and burning people will not end well!"

"I already shot him once," the girl replied in the same flat voice as before. "And made him bleed."

In Rowan's humble opinion, both Ollie and this girl were asses, but he didn't voice that aloud.

"Wh--what are you doing? I'm fine, are you okay?" Cole asked in an urgent voice. "That weasel! He should not have touched you!" He swayed a little on his feet, his free hand clenched. He didn't pull away the other hand, though, not when Sasha's touch sent a shiver down his spine in a very pleasant way. He glared at the other guy, who was holding his nose, and gave him a rude gesture. Hopefully he'd take a hint.

message 170: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Ollie didn't stand a chance with these girls, why had he thought he might? He was now blocked in and the girl from earlier was throwing threats his way. Then his savior appeared, Rowan! He slid into the half circle they had going and came between himself and the girls that were threatening him. Ollie blanched when they started dissing on Rowan though, this was not going the way he'd imagined it. "Hey don't talk to him like that! Rowan is one of the best guys you'll meet, he's nothing like me, he's nice, sweet, and believes in equality," Ollie voiced, he wasn't going to let Rowan just get mowed over like that. Sure it might mean he got shot again, but it didn't matter if it meant that he'd defended his friends honor. "We were just leaving anyway," Ollie added, ready to take Rowan and get the hell out of that party. It was nothing like what he'd planned, and he wasn't having a great time.

Sasha looked up at Cole, his protectiveness sent a zing straight to her heart. "Oh Cole, I'll be okay. Thank you for your chivalry though," She blushed slightly and then made sure his bandage was tight before putting a hand to his upper arm, whoa he worked out. She was steadying him as he didn't seem very sturdy on his feet just then. "Um how much did you drink in the time it took for all of that to happen?" She queried, probably 3 or 4 beers knowing Cole, but it would be okay. She would hang out with him until he sobered up.

message 171: by ellie (last edited Jun 19, 2021 11:29AM) (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Equality, huh?" Caledonia asked, and her piercing gaze flickered from Rowan to Ollie. "And that just proves you don't believe in that." Her hand twitched with the urge to slap him across the face, but even she knew that was taking it too far unless he did something. Even so, her temper and resulting rash actions were her weakness and always had been, and she knew it. "And if you're leaving, then do it." She hesitated for a moment and dipped her hand into her pocket. A small tracker sat there, smaller than the size of her pinky nail. She reached both hands in her pocket and moved the tracker inside an injector. "You've caused enough problems as it is." In a flash, she removed the tracker injector and stabbed the thing in Ollie's neck, before injecting a serum that would make him forget about her injecting the tracker. She slowly removed the injector and set it back in her pocket.

"What did you just do?" Rowan gaped, his eyes wide. "You're absolutely insa--" Something pricked into the back of his neck, too, and suddenly he couldn't remember anything except trying to stop a fight between the brunette and Ollie. "Okay, so are we all calm here?"

"Yes, you two were heading out?" Caledonia prompted.

"Oh. Ollie, are we?" Rowan questioned.

Cole looked at Sasha and shrugged. "Um maybe 3 or 4, why? I don't remember, but you're so beautiful and please don't cry, I'll hurt anyone who touches you again," he replied all at once. "And good, I need you to be okay, you can't not be okay," he replied, placing his hand over hers, which was on his arm.

message 172: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments “Yeah equality,” Ollie nodded his head, but she made it out like it was a bad thing that he’d said that. Ollie was very much confused, and he was not anywhere near drunk enough for the interaction that they were having. Problems? Had he been causing problems? Suddenly everything went black, then he was back to himself, what the hell had just happened? He couldn’t have blacked out from drinking? Maybe it was lack of water, he was dehydrated! That’s what it was, she asked if they were still leaving, then Rowan asked too. Ollie’s mind was a bit dizzy, but not enough to not remind him that he needed to get the hell out of there, “No, I mean yeah, we’re leaving. Tell Cole bye for us,” He said while squeezing past the other girl, she barely let him pass, and stomped on his foot as he did. “Ow! Dammit what is your problem??? I don’t even know you.” Ollie bit out.

Pearl had been watching the entire interaction with interest, but when Ollie went to move past her, well she just had to do something, so she put her boot right on his toes. “Oops, did I hurt you?” She batted her lashes and gave an innocent expression. She let the second guy pass without incident, he seemed alright, but pig? He was definitely not okay, he was just looking for trouble. “So what did you put in his neck?” Pearl asked when the boys had disappeared through the crowd. She nudged Cal with her shoulder, throwing her a disarming smile.

Sasha was so confused by Cole, but she was also thankful he’d been there to knock the guy around, to prove a point. “Thanks Cole, I’m going to head back to my dorm I think. But I’ll see you around sometime.. I hope. Cole you may want to protect me, but I think you just don’t have the courage to take a chance on us,” Sasha moved her hair out of her face, “When you get the guts to actually date me, let me know. Hopefully I won’t already be involved with someone else by then,” She reached up and poked his cheek before turning to leave, Sasha was tired and she’d been manhandled, and not in a good way.

message 173: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) Cal watched with crossed arms as they headed out. A small smirk twitched at her lips, and she turned to Pearl when she was done. "Tracker," she stated. "I'll show you when we get back to the room." She sighed. "And j really want to, but Cole's still here. But...how about another cocktail? I'll make it." She felt her stomach rumble and her cheeks flush at Pearl's gorgeous grin, and she smiled back a little. "You have a lovely smile," she complimented, the most romantic thing she'd ever said and the most unlike her. She took a deep breath. "Anyway. So that's Pig, he's a jerk." She didn't know what to make of Rowan. She'd have to search him up later. She wouldn't take Ollie's word for his personality.

"What?" He gaped, and shook his head. "No, I...don't leave! And it's not scary, I'm not a coward!" He almost yelled, enraged she had thought that and angry over her words about being with someone else. And yet, and yet...he knew he couldn't date her. "See me around? I-I...I'm trying to keep you from being hurt by me! Why can't you see that?"

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Pearl rolled her eyes at the backs of the two idiots that had just left the dorm, she then turned to Cal, “Cocktail? You got it, some food too I think?” She laughed lightly, but was stopped by Cal’s next statement, “Oh thank you.” She breathed, so she thought she had a lovely smile? Pearl thought Cal’s smile was far more pretty than her own, but she wasn’t going to point that out just then. “C’mon babe,” Pearl took Cal by the hand and went with her to the kitchen, someone had drank all of the cocktail she’d made earlier, but it was okay because the cocktails were easy to make. “Lets do it together?’ She asked and started telling Cal the ingredients they would need while she washed out the blender and plugged it in again.

“You are a coward though, if you were brave then you would take a chance on us,” Sasha reiterated, she turned and sighed, her eyes big, her expression sorry, “I wish we could just get to know each other, maybe go on some dates, but you can’t do that for me. So I’ll just wait around hoping you come to your senses, at least until I don’t. Look Cole, I know you think you’re protecting me, but you’re really just hurting me, and yourself at this point. I don’t know much about romance, but I know that it shouldn’t be this hard just to get a date,” Sasha walked back to him and leaned her forehead against his chest, “I like you Cole.”

message 175: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Food sounds good, yes," Caledonia agreed, and she then nodded. "You're welcome, I...I do think it's very nice." Was that even right? She'd already said she had a lovely smile and now said she thought it was very nice? Gosh, she was going to have to speak to someone about what these feelings were doing to her head and her ability to be a competent human being. She let Pearl take her by the hand, and her mouth opened in surprise at Pearl's endearment of "babe", but she didn't know what to say. Part of her disliked that, part of her liked it, but they weren't together, were they? She almost stopped walking. Were they? And did she want to be? "Make them together?" Caledonia hesitated. "I offered, I can do it, but...I guess if you want to help, sure. I have made a few drinks before." She took the ingredients Peal described while also taking out two new glasses and getting them set and ready.

Everything Cole had wanted to say was tossed out the window--all replies, protests, angry outbursts--when she rested her head on his chest. Even in his drunk state, Sasha's actions made his stomach drop and his mind spin (unless that was the beer? He didn't know) and he automatically wrapped his arms around her. "I-I..." What was he doing? her accusations of him being a cowards jumped around in his head. He'd definitely never met someone who genuinely liked him the way he liked her, at least not since Agent Anderson, and that was a whole shitshow to begin with...and Cole honestly could say he stopped having feelings for her long before their relationship was exposed; he had just liked the secretive nature that he now so regretted. And Sasha was so soft, and yet strong. Her determination of him hurting her cut through his heart; that was the last thing he wanted to do. But maybe... "Okay, look, I...I do want to date you," he whispered. "And I do want to get to know you!" He added loudly, too loudly because his drunk self had no volume control. "But you don't understand. Look, how about I take you to dinner tomorrow night and explain? And we can figure out what to do from there?"

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments “Okay, I’ll watch and you can make it,” Pearl hopped up onto the counter to watch, she swung her feet as Cal prepared to make the drinks. “So do you want to go on a date with me or something?” Pearl was not one to beat around the bush, she didn’t do subtle hints, she didn’t do maybes, she just cut to the point and went for it. Especially when she knew what she wanted, and she was pretty sure she wanted Caledonia in her life, permanently if possible. Of course that was totally up to Cal and how she felt about things. Pearl might have to let her think about it, which would be hard for Pearl, she liked straight forward answers too. The two of them could continue being friends, that was fine, but she’d rather them be more than friends.

Sasha inhaled Cole’s scent, it was almost a woodsy scent mixed with beer, and somehow it made her want to breathe him in more. She clenched her fists in his shirt and tried not to cry. Why was he making this so difficult? They were both quiet a moment, he spoke first, and he admitted to wanting to date her, which was a huge relief. Then he was obnoxiously loud and she jumped out of her skin, but kept her face nuzzled into his shirt as he kept speaking, he wanted to go to dinner? With her? Sasha smiled softly and finally peeked up at him, “Okay, I’ll go to dinner with you,” She wanted to kiss him, like he had her the first day they had met, but instead she opted for just a smooch on the cheek. “You’re sweet Cole, even if you don’t know it,” Sasha removed her hold on his shirt before intwining their hands together, “Lets get you another drink, we both know you need one after all of this. And maybe I can have a tiny one?”

ellie (rebelkitten12) Cal's mom had taught her how to make some cocktails, especially since her mom liked them, and they'd often make them after a long day and then watch a movie or sit and talk, making fun of everyone they worked with. She missed that, and it wasn't far from her mind as she carefully made Pearl one and then another for herself. Just as she handed one to her roommate, Pearl asked her out. Caledonia froze. She'd never gone on a date. Had told herself she never had time for one. But she was here now, wasn't she? And she may as well experiment with these feelings, and she did like Pearl. Caledonia twisted around some straw someone had left on the counter as she thought about it, and then finally looked at Pearl. "Sure," she stated with a nod. "I don't know how one responds and I've never been on a date or had a girlfriend or boyfriend but I think...I think I like you," she whispered, again half mortified.

"Yeah?" Her agreement made his heart soar, even if part of him only want it as a test run and am explanation. But what if it worked out, a small voice in the back of his head pressed. Just think...Cole swallowed hard. "I-I...I'm not sweet, you're sweet, like a flower," he murmured, and then took a deep breath, her touch on his hand making him lose that breath. "Okay. Let's do that. I-I mean, get what you want, I just don't know your limits and you don't either."

message 178: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Pearl took the drink Cal offered and sipped it, “Mmm this is great, thanks Cal,” She continued drinking it as Cal thought over her words, finally agreeing to a date. She seemed unsure of how to respond, so Pearl put her hand on Cal’s , “It’s okay. We all have our firsts, right? I’m glad I’m yours,” Pearl gave Cal a smile and moved her hair from one shoulder to the other. “Okay so I’ll think on what we should do for our date, and surprise you? If that’s okay?” Pearl patted the counter, “Wanna sit?” They could still see the other guy, he seemed to be making up with a girl or something, it was weird. She thought that guy was a player or something? Maybe he was changing… parties did a lot for people sometimes. It had gotten her a date with the cutest girl in school.

“Yeah,” Sasha agreed, he called her sweet and she felt the heat in her cheeks, “Me? No not really. I’m just nice…” Sasha gave him a dimpled smile when he said they could get drinks, “I can get a soda silly, “She went over to a table and grabbed a grape soda, her favorite, and popped it open, letting Cole find his drink of choice, she wouldn’t make that decision for him. She had no idea what he liked, and besides she’d already encouraged him to drink more which was probably a bad idea. She felt guilt sweep through her for that, but pushed it aside, she needed to show him she could handle him at any level. If she bossed him around now, or tried to help he would think that she was just trying to change or mother him, neither one was something she wanted.

message 179: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Good, I'm glad. And you're welcome." She looked down as Pearl placed her hand atop hers and took a deep breath. "Yeah, we...we do, I guess. I think I'm glad you
re my first too. And sure." She easily hopped up to sit next to Pearl on the counter. She sighed and followed Pearl's gaze. "Honestly, now what is he doing?" She mumbled, having seen him punch someone in the nose and then yell something loudly. Clearly, he was drunk, and the guy whose nose was bleeding was also drunk. She should have gone after Cole for that, but in her opinion the asshole who he'd hit had it coming so she didn't. "And...I..." She sipped her cocktail and thought. Surprise her? Caledonia wasn't huge on surprises, didn't trust people enough for them. "Um. Maybe." She knew this was a date. But surprises could go so wrong. She could be walking into a trap. No, that's stupid, get it together, she scolded herself. "Sure. Just give me the general dress code." She was going to have to take some risks, and why would Pearl, why would anyone, lead someone they liked into a trap?

"Oh, soda, yeah..." He trailed off, watching as she grabbed a grape one and feeling cold when she stopped leaning against him. He shook his head. "You are sweet, and nice, and very determined, I'll give you that too." Kneeling, Cole pushed around some ice in a cooler and found another beer. He hadn't actually finished his fourth one yet but was too drunk to recall where he'd put it, and this was colder anyway. "We can have dinner at that Italian place?" He offered.

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments “I dunno, he looks like he actually likes that girl maybe?? I can’t tell, between the fighting and her grabbing him like that,” Pearl bit her lip and tried to figure out the puzzle that was Cole, but could anyone figure that out, really? “Oh casual, super casual. Oh you know what? I’m not good with secrets, so like I’ll just tell you. We’re going paintballing! I know you’re probably used to the, ya know, real thing. But I thought it would be fun to go? What do you think?” Pearl looked at Cal earnestly, she truly wanted to make sure it would be something that Caledonia would be into. If it wasn’t then they could go on a dinner date or something else, she just thought this would be right up Cal’s alley. She wanted to make her happy, for whatever reason, and this date was important to her, for them.

Sasha didn’t know why he was complimenting her so much, she was just a girl, and he was a boy, and they were trying to figure out how to not make things so complicated. “Sure, I haven’t been there yet. I love Italian though, oh I wonder if they have fried ravioli? I love that, well I like food in general if I’m being honest.” Sasha gave Cole a smile before sipping her drink, she leaned against his side, liking the feeling of them touching in some way or another. It felt natural, and he seemed to enjoy it too, so she went beneath his arm and tucked herself against his side to stay. “Maybe they have Italian Ice there too? That stuff is the best,” Sasha’s mouth was watering just thinking about the food and dessert.

ellie (rebelkitten12) "I'll figure him out later, I need to debrief--talk--to him after this at some point anyway." Caledonia's eyes widened at the revelation of what Pearl had planned. "Paintballing?! Hell yes! Yeah, I am used to, well, gun guns, but this is less lethal and will be amazing!" She squeezed Pearl's hand, her green eyes shining. "But in advance, apologies about...probably quite a bit of potential aggression and competitiveness. It would be fun, this great. And then," Cal added in thought, "we can grab some food or something? I'm probably going to be hungry after that."

"Well, this is good to know, that you like food," he stated, and then couldn't help himself as he leaned down and whispered, "because I'm a snack." He grinned and then nodded. "Italian Ice? I've never had that, what is the difference between that and, say, Spanish Ice?" He was too drunk to process it was a type of food, really, or to think about it. He automatically wrapped one arm around her, pulling her closer. Oh, this was bad. Around five drinks in and...boom, all reservations about dating her gone.

"Well," Val started. "I have some rules, but we will keep the same general idea. You be my inside person and let all the other boys know I don't take anyone's crap. Also, if I need to beat any of them up and not get in trouble, you better back me up" she grinned. "And, as far as rules go, no flirting," Valerie rolled her eyes. "Whatsoever"

message 183: by Leena, Kaz's cousin (new)

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments Caledonia's reaction to the idea for their date was priceless, she was more excited than Pearl, and Pearl was fairly excited. She couldn't help the grin that came upon her face as Cal spoke about it, she was competitive, well that wasn't much of a surprise, but so was Pearl, so it would be interesting to see who won. She mentioned them grabbing food afterwards, "Yeah that'll be nice. Kill squad and then dinner, it'll be like Mr. and Mrs. Smith style," It was an older movie and she wasn't even sure if Cal had seen it, but their relationship, the spice in it, reminded her of that movie. At least she knew ahead of time that Cal was a government agent, and that her life could be in danger at any given time. Pearl had no such secrets, she was just who she was, and she didn't apologize for it. If people didn't like it, well they could get over it. "Here," She said and gave Cal a bag of chips, "Didn't you say you were hungry?"

Sasha giggled at Cole's words, he was a snack. She shook her head at how silly he was, she figured it was because he was tipsy, then he was pulling her flush against his body and her cheeks turned very rosy indeed. It was warm to be against him and sent tingles down her spine, she wasn't sure what to do with her hands, so she wrapped them around his waist and let her head fall against him. "We should do parties more often," She said with another giggle, she was trying to keep Cole standing upwards as his balance seemed impaired. "Why don't we find a seat?" She suggested looking around.

(Daphne, I'm going to say they went into the hall, I hope that's okay! Cuz Ollie wanted to get away from Cal and Pearl)

Ollie stopped outside in the hall with Rowan, Val was there and she began saying there were rules, he couldn't understand what she was going on about. "Rules? I don't do rules princess," Ollie stated and began walking away from Val, dragging Rowan along with him, hoping to get away from the vicinity of girls in general for a little while.

message 184: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Kill squad?" Cal asked with a grin. "I approve of this. Mr. and Mrs. Smith? What is that?" She asked as she accepted the chips with a slight bit of hesitation. "Umm I may have? I don't recall." She clenched her jaw; chips were not healthy, and yet would one night kill her? She worked out more than the average person and it was obvious, so she decided she may as well do as Pearl said: live a little. So she opened the bag and took one out before handing the bag back to her roommate. "So tell me, how competitive are you? Do you have practice with shooting things? What should I expect/" she asked with a twinkle in her eye.

Cole hugged her back, enjoying this, and he looked down as her head fell against his torso. The desire to kiss her was suddenly strong, and before he could process it or stop himself, he leaned in and kissed her on the top of her head. "I agree, let's do many more parties," he whispered drunkenly, and then realized what he was doing and jerked upright. She'd said she didn't want him kissing her last night, and he definitely should listen to that after what happened last time he hadn't listened to the girl he was dating. Dating. Oh, this was bad, somewhere in him he knew that. And yet another part of him feared that if he didn't date Sasha, he would come to regret it. "Hmm? A seat? Oh, okay." He pulled away from her, looked around, and then sat down on the floor. "Found one."

Rowan gaped as Ollie started dragging him down the hallway, stumbling over his feet. he pulled out of his roommate's grasp, a sense of foreboding tangling in his gut. "What are you doing?" He asked, haling in the hallway. "I get it, you're angry, but maybe you should cool off some steam outside or something?" Truthfully he did not want Ollie going off when they got back to their dorm room.

Leena (leena23) | 747 comments "Its a movie," She explained, "Maybe we can date night it one night," She smiled at the thought of more date nights with Caledonia. (I love how she takes just one chip and calls it living a little XD) Pearl took the chips back, she popped one in her mouth before looking around at all of the people still at the party, how did one empty a room like this? She was glad it wasn't on her to empty it, it was that other dudes. "Me? I'm pretty competitive, I've never shot a gun per se, but I have shot arrows, and handled knives and swords. Does that count?" She'd handled what the mortal world called medieval weapons most of her life. "My dad says I need to chill when we compete," She admitted. "How competitive are you?"

Sasha about died when he kissed the top of her head, it was so sweet. She smiled up at him shyly, "So where are we going to si-?" She was cut off as he just sat on the floor itself. Oh no, how was she going to get him up from there? "Um... maybe a chair? That's what I was thinking, I really don't want to sit on the floor..." She didn't know what to do with Cole now, he would probably be on the floor for the rest of the night.

(I'll reply with Ollie when Daphne replies)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Oh, maybe we can. Is it action? I like action and comedy and adventure movies," Caledonia admitted. ((HAHA yep)). She crunched on the single chip; it was so salty and greasy, and she almost felt a need to apologize to her mom for even eating it. Caledonia admittedly binge ate candy and chocolate, but to her chips were practically a sin. "That counts. I use knives too. Swords, admittedly, I don't use as much. Maybe you should teach me. And I'm not the best at archery," she admitted, and then turned with a raised eyebrow. "Oh does he? Okay, this will be fascinating. I'm pretty competitive, in training I tend to get all my anger out or be focuses. See the risk is if I start seeing this is an actual mission. But it's also paint so maybe not. But I am pretty competitive with friends, and sometimes with others." She shrugged. "It's a gun, got a trigger, so good luck to me to remember this is a game. Still I'm really excited."

"Oh." Cole looked up at Sasha and smiled. "Sure but are there any chairs? I would like a back rest...but also getting up can be so hard." And yet even in his drunken stupor he didn't want to make Sasha sad, he genuinely liked her, so he signed and pushed up a little to stand. Cole had to grab a desk nearby to get himself to sit up alright, and his head spun as music swam in his head when he was fully on his feet.

((Okay!))

"Its comedy action, its a classic. We should definitely watch it," Pearl curled hair around her finger, "Oh we could certainly make time for lessons," Pearl was all too eager to teach Cal, she could imagine being behind her and wrapping her arms around Cal and helping to grip the sword, or pulling an arrow back with her, they would be so close in both cases. She snapped out of her reverie when Cal began talking about how competitive she was. It would suck if Cal forgot it was just for fun and actually killed her or maimed or something. But then again, she doubted that Cal would ever do that, she had more faith in Cal than that. But she did imagine some rough and tumbling going on, that would be hella fun. "Well I think it'll be a lot of fun, we can get down and dirty and then go grab some food from a food truck or something? Unless you want to get cleaned up first and then go get food." Pearl was watching Cole with the girl that he was with, it was interesting watching the events unfold, he seemed thoroughly drunk, and she seemed very sober. If he tried anything, she knew that her and Cal would be on him in seconds.

"Well I don't want you to, oh!" Sasha reached to steady him, "I don't want you to fall silly. Okay, there's a bed right over there, think you can make it?" Sasha held his elbow and began the shuffle over to the bed, hopefully they wouldn't end up sprawled on the floor, or if they did end up that way, then she end up on top so she didn't get hurt. "You got this Cole," She said encouragingly as he swayed some, where were his friends? Why was she the only one helping him? This was his party after all, no one here wanted to help? That was fine, she would clear everyone out then, right after she got Cole in bed.

"No rules, and leave him alone. I don't do rules princess, never have, never will. Just ask the girl inside," Ollie put on a stubborn expression, "I heard your name yelled down the hall. What's the big deal? Why do you girls want your names to be so mysterious? It's annoying."

ellie (rebelkitten12) "I'll definitely be down to watch it with you," Caledonia told Pearl with a small smile. "And thank you! I know how to do archery, but it's not my strength, so I hardly focus on it. Not great though. And hey, if you want I can teach you how to shoot." She looked at Pearl's face, finding her heartbeat quicken at her gorgeous eyes. "And either works, I'd be down for food truck or a nicer dinner, as long as....as long as we can sit together and talk." Her cheeks flushed. "I'm not good at opening up to new people but I'm going to try." Caledonia then followed Pearl's gaze, and her eyes hardened. "I need to stop this, he's going to a bed!"

Cole looked at Sasha and then at the bed as he staggered and she helped him over. "Will we cuddle like last night?" He asked in a sluggish voice, but before anything else could happen, he felt someone else grab his arm in a very strong grasp, almost pinching, and whirled around. "Hayden!"

"We're ending this party, you're very very drunk!" Caledonia snapped.

"No!" Anger flashed in Cole's eyes. She was ruining his time with Sasha! He swiped at Hayden, but she blocked his blow and slammed her fist under his jaw.

"Rogers. End it now."

Cole looked from her to Sasha, and then at another girl near the agent. "Who's that?" He asked with a slurred voice. She was gorgeous.
