Strong heroines that are mugged, captured, tortured

Any books with strong romance / romance suspense theme. With a survivor/strong heroine who lives though (with scars) being tortured or mugged by baddies
The hero helps rescue heroine (although she is not helpless) he maybe realises how deep his feelings are due to nearly losing her?

Please don't suggest books where the heroine falls for her captor!!!
