ch 21 I'm switching between audiobook and my physical copy and so far I'm liking the narrator for audiobook. (view spoiler)[ I like this book, but it's not my favorite. I'm understanding that Neve is being guided by Kiri who doesn't seem to be the best person. I would not dout if Kiri had a play in Neve's mothers death. It was sad reading about how the mother/queen never really showed any emotion, but probably more so to shield herself from being hurt from the inevitable. (hide spoiler)]

ending (view spoiler)[ honestly wasn't my favorite retelling of a fairy tale story. I listened to the audiobook for the first 60% then switched to my physical copy. I just couldn't really get into the plot line and found that the action kept repeating. It was predictable that the wolf (Eamonn) and Red were going to fall in love. Wasn't the worst, wasn't the best (hide spoiler)]

The romance was VERY predictable and although I feel bad for Neve I don't plan on reading the next book to find out what happened.. Overall felt ehh about the book and was really happy to finally finish it so I could start a new book. (hide spoiler)] I think my favorite retellings had to of been the series.

She didn't seem to want power, I guess it makes sense that she'd want to dismantle the Wilderwood even if Red returns, but not to go against her sister to such a degree as it is implied in her talk with Kiri... More Interludes might have helped, it seems like it happens more with Neve than with Red... (hide spoiler)]

I'm also still a bit unsure how they won at the end... Probably thanks to Neve cutting down her connection to the Shadowland, which again makes Neve the more interesting of the two sisters... (hide spoiler)]

I really liked that Neve is not portrayed as the evil sister and she’s trying her best to bring Red back and is genuinely upset because of the weird “Second Daughter for the Wolf” rule. The Five Kings are looking evil to me atm (hide spoiler)]

I think this book could have been shorter if not for so many unnecessary words. Red was the protagonist in this one yet I found myself looking forward to Interludes more until Red returned to Valleyda, that says something about how interested I was in the main story itself, I may pick up the next book just to know what happened to Neve but am on thin ice regarding this series as a whole (hide spoiler)]

Ah! I totally agree! I found Neve much more interesting! The second is about her, and the writing is less repetitive, so I liked it much more! (Except at the very end, where it feels like the author wanted to squeeze 100 pages out of 30 pages of content...)
