I read the book over 10 years ago (around 2009-2011) while i was in high school.
From what i remember the book was in a teenage male's POV and he was some sort of spirit guide/reaper/ and or guardian angel. He witnessed or was close by when the Romanov family was killed and he managed to save Anastasia. He grew to have feelings for her and i believe he got into trouble with someone for interfering with her death.
I dont remember much more than that honestly.
I have tried google with no results so i am hoping someone here can help me.
