nyx (vampfang) | 2 comments i've recently gotten really into playlists of medieval/celtic/dark fantasy music, and i'd like to find some books to go along with that. maybe something with witches and faeries? or something with d&d vibes if u know of any. i'm thinking of a septimus heap type of thing? i tend to gravitate towards ya but if you have any other suggestions i'm open to that. can be as obscure or well-known as you like, i haven't read many of the genre recently.

Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Alanna The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1) by Tamora Pierce Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce.

If you're fine with modern fantasy, you might like:

Fang, please add details to your topic header to specify the type of fantasy and themes you're looking for. These details are in your post - they should be in your header too.

Two authors who write about magicians and use "fair folk" type creatures/people drawing on similar folklore are Cecilia Dart-Thornton (e.g. The Iron Tree, The Ill-Made Mute) and Patricia A. McKillip (e.g. Riddle-Master, The Bards of Bone Plain).
