"I mean it. Not everyone has the intellect for that many languages. A lot of people who I work with know a lot, too, but still, hearing about it always amazes me." She gave Niki a small smile.

"Well, then, Thanks. It comes in handy in the field. And just life. Makes traveling a lot easier, which I'm sure you know."
“It does. I completely agree, field work is important and can be dangerous so anything that makes it easier is vitally important.”
"But its fun. Being in the field. The actions exciting, so is undercover work. Meeting all the new people. Seeing the different sides of all the different stories we hear about in history class. Actually being there. Not just making tomorrow a good day, but making tomorrow happen. Making today happen, even."
"That sounds fascinating; I really do hope it works out and I can go on a mission with you. Mine are different. I don't time travel, I do undercover work, spy work, and operations but nothing involving anything and interesting and delicate as time travel. Though I would be willing to if we did, even as it sounds like a really dangerous thing to mess around with, even if you know what you're doing."
"It is extremely dangerous. For us and for time. But I hope the mission works out, too. You'd probably like the Legends. Some people don't, though. They think we mess around too much with something so delicate. The waverider defiantly isn't an all serious environment."
Alya smiled. "Well, I know from you that even if they do mess around, well, they get stuff done and that's all that matters. My family can be dysfunctional, too, but I think we've learned that too much infighting can have disastrous consequences," she replied.
"It definitely does. We've broken time just as many times as we've fixed it. For a bunch of different reasons. Its odd sometimes, knowing the time we're standing in right now could have been so much different if we hadn't fixed something that most people would probably overlook."
“Huh.” Alya pulled her red hair from her bun and began to braid it after running her fingers through it. “That is really interesting.” And the more Niki talked about the more eager she was to see the ship and go back in time.
"Yeah." She played with a strand of her hair that had fallen out of its braid. She was excited for Alya to see the ship but also worried that she might find the Legends a bit much. They never left anyone new on the ship alone, they seemed to be bit clingy when it came to newbies.
"What is it?" Alya asked Niki, watching as she played with her hair. And with just the one word, well, the spy in Alya sensed something wasn't right. "Are you okay?"
She snapped out of whatever daze she was in "What? Yeah. I'm fine. Just thinking."
"I just hope you like the Legends. They're a bit much sometimes. Clingy. Most of the time they'll find out your entire life story within you first five minutes on the ship. Some people don't mind that, but other people would rather to keep to themselves."
Alya's eyes widened. Entire life story? No, she didn't really like the sound of that. But perhaps she could give bits and pieces, enough to satisfy them while keeping some hidden, because she definitely wanted to time travel. "Oh, I see. Well, um, perhaps I could be friendly without sharing much," she told Niki. "By that I mean my whole life story. Anyway, I...when can I meet them? I mean, my family's a lot, too. Not sure about clingy all the time, but a lot in their own way."
"I can make sure they don't look into you if you don't wanting them to know everything. That's your right. And you don't have to tell them anything if you don't want to. I can see if Sara and Ava are okay with this weekend if that's alright with you."
