SOLVED. Kids fiction about gypsy girl who grows up and cant talk

its in two parts. one is in the past about the gypsy girl when she is younger and she meets this guy and she tells him that she was struck by lightning which is why her leg doesn't work well. When the truth is she actually had polio.
In the present the gypsy girl is an old woman and is in a hospital and can't talk. Her granddaughter is trying to find that guy her grandma talked to. When she finds him he takes the grandma out into a field and they let out screams which is something she showed him when they were younger.
