Also I am working on a story that I hope will be a HUGE project.... it will take a long time to get that done though. I need to work out any legal issues before I pursue them more passionately though I feel already this is a passion project!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 26 comments Oh yeah I recently was convicted in my heart about having a subgenre while in a library.

I run the library at my church and someone had shared to me (not in a lot of words) but that some books deemed "Christian" can actually be bad, especially to the young ones like teenagers or young adults!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 26 comments It's called "Christian Romance Fiction."

I after that felt the "call" to maybe revolutionize and revamp what ANYONE would ever feel about those "bad" books and start with a completely new and "BETTER" subgenre as a result.

I want to call it either Real "romance" Fiction or "Real Christian Love." It will deal with an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and reflect that over any themes involving any relationship that might be worldly.

----

For example, it could follow a man (a story I came up with) where he was not doing things that were right. He feels he is a strong, "wholesome" Christian... (view spoiler) Then things start to work out but the characters went through a huge process, boom. Through trial and error, then things end!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 26 comments Another could be called "(Title Changed)"

About a young woman who keeps feeling she must minister to men. Over and over again when she sees them face to face she does get stronger in Christ, but she hates that they make passes at her or make her uncomfortable by saying things she doesn't like.

It turns out as she keeps going to church they desire her but they don't know what they "really" want. These men are dangerous! She should at least talk to them while at church just for her protection... and a woman who is part of a strong women's ministry keeps telling her to join theirs but pride gets in the way with her. She keeps shrugging them off.

She reads the bible every day, she doesn't need to know more she knows just "enough," thank you!

But as she desires to do more she keeps learning more and more that church people are people she needs too!

She just doesn't realize it until near the end of the story. Maybe she quietly surrenders to that in her heart. A lot of people (including me, before now) need to know that! :D

Update: This might become a different story!

Thank you Carl. I've heard that through WordVenture that it is possible!

Your ideas sound good!
My writing journey also began trying to improve upon Christian Romance.
The hero of my novel is a parallel to Jesus in that he gives of himself to save the girl only to set her free. Her response in turn is how we react to Christ: loving him back.
Write your ideas. Christian Romance needs a fresh angle.

That sounds interesting to me. But then I like to write stories that explore Gospel characters lives and retell the parables. I've also drafted a novel about King David.

Also a great view. That is neat also. Glad to see many people on here with fresh ideas to reflect the heart of someone who follows the Lord but through growth changes in a way that is deep in some way.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 26 comments Another story idea I have is called "The Waters." or have hints about a coming "storm."

Another one for this new subgenre would be a young couple in the church who are new to each other. (view spoiler)Will they "survive" their sinking ship as these storms come? Or will they just depend on each other seeing beauty as skin deep?

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 26 comments Oh yeah, I almost forgot. A happy update!

I had a blog for about eight years close to nine years now (!)

To help celebrate I got a domain so that all can see it!

My blog, place I talk about media, theology, and the Bible:

wondermedia

Thank you for checking it out if you get the chance!

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 26 comments Okay I hope people checked out the blog. If you didn't don't worry... no forceful "advertising" when it comes to that! Haha.

I have an update. There is a possibility there is a lot of stories coming (hopefully soon!). I have to map out multiple storylines so that is not yet a thing but let's hope that the things said above become a book series!

Also one day will write up a Christian Young Adult that as I started it many years ago was unintentionally heavily inspired by S. E. Hinton. It will be partially dedicated to her books!

Carol A (mibuickluvr) | 9 comments Rule #1 for artists of all kinds: Never let anyone tell you your work is "bad" or "wrong" or that you must stop creating or must destroy anything you have created. Art is very personal, as you've demonstrated with your descriptions of your plot lines, and is subjective to interpretation and therefore not to worry about opinion.

Peace in Christ,
Carol
