I didn't finish the book so I don't know if the collection of stories led to a "great adventure" of sorts. In the first story a girl had an injury of some sort and has to get this skin technology on her genitals. A guy and her are at drive in movie theater. This girl is already bullied enough as it is because of her needing the skin technology, but the next day the guy spreads rumors about her because of it. She is angry, and pours soup on him ( or some sort of lunch). Girl gets sent to a teacher, and the teacher feels sympathy for her but the teacher knows they can't do anything about it. In the second story, a young (around 8 years old) boy has to get a skin transplant as well, but in his case it's seal skin and he knows he will slowly turn into a seal. He has to cope with this, and it is also clear that this is an experiment. I would also like to note that on the edition that I was reading it in, if I remember correctly, the cover had a white robot face.

It seemed new yes and likely one author because if I remember correctly the style was consistent
And it was definitely YA? I try to keep tabs on new YA anthologies.The End and Other Beginnings has stories set in the future, but the cover seems way off.

I got it from the YA section, and it didn't really have anything to suggest it wasn't YA because of the character's ages and other factors.
It is not that book for sure.
I'm sorry it could've possibly not been a collection, and even if it was I don't know how many stories it was.
