An 11 year old boy and his mom go on a camping trip, but when the boy wakes up his mom has left. The boy has a toy elephant and knows a lot about elephants. The boy travels around trying to find his mom. He mentions that his mom is mentally sick and sometimes stops taking her medicine which causes her to act different. There's one part where he starts collecting soda cans and trades them for some money. In the end the boy gets to see a real elephant.
