Reading Goals, Logs, Check in

I'm going to go on good reads a lot more often to update with what i'm reading and how it's going etc, but also consistently read 15 minutes every night to keep on track with my reading and my year goal. I'm thinking of making a log to record down in my writing book my reading progress.

So basically, my plan is to have a physical planner and to read more comfort books so I can get back on track !

I have a lot of books I really want to read in my to-read shelf, that I have easy access to. I plan on reading approximately 20 mins before sleeping every night, to catch up with my reading goal, and so that I can read all the books I want to this year. I just finished "Counting by 7s - Holly Goldberg Sloan".

It's awesome that your opinion changed about non fiction :) Maybe you could read more of those, but also keep comfort fiction books so that you stay in pace with your reading challenge.

You can also check Goodreads recommendations, peruse our classroom library as we have so many new titles. I just read A Monster Calls and think you might like it. :)

What kind of Japanese books are you reading ? Bonne Chance !

Well done Shivani, I think that it would be a good idea to read more at this point, so that's a good goal to have, keep up the good work!

Liam I think you have a good idea to read for 10 mins everyday but maybe you should try to read more everyday just so you can catch up to your schedule from before.

Glad you are giving other genres a look. Fast Food Nation is a good choice. Do you like history? You can also check out A Little History of the World by Gombrich.

I know you use a physical planner everyday, maybe you can try using it to track your reading. You can use it as a good remember! I think you can also maybe only work on comfort and just right books for now and move to stretch only when you are closer to reaching your goal :)) Good luck !!!

I think its a good idea to discover different genres. I think more genres you read, the more knowledge you have. Also, good job and keep it up!

I think that you should read a just right book next like 'Milkweed' by Jeremy Spinelli because you seem interested about World War 2 since you read bomb. And also, get back to track by reading at least 15 pages a night!

I think that re-reading books is a good way to find deeper meaning into the book, because I re-read about 4 books, and I feel like I was able to understand the books more. So you should re-read books :)

I think it would be a great idea to have a physical planner to record your reading progress as right know you're not really consistent with your reading. Good luck!!

I think it's really good you're pushing yourself. I think your plan is good, maybe read some stretch but not too many because you might start to fall behind with your reading schedule.

I like that you have set yourself a solid daily goal for yourself, and you're right, re-reading could help you see deeper into the book. Thanks for the advice, and good luck with your goal :)

My goal till the end of March was to read 15 books. So far i've read 6 books, which leaves 9 to go. Looking at my schedule for the next few days I predict I'll be back on track, when school ends and the Chinese New Year break starts. Currently i'm reading Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson I hope to be done with the book the coming Wednesday.
Just a quick check in of your reading goals thus far. How are things going? How many books have you read so far? How many more do you have to go? Talk about some challenges? Also name and mention things that are working. How are you tracking your reading goal? What different strategies have you used or tried to read your books more closely? Let's have a discussion about where we are all at here. :)
Personally, I was feeling pretty good about my pace and goal up until the first two weeks of January. After that, there are two weeks leading up to the Green Gecko trip that I dropped the ball on reading a little. It has made a very unhappy person. Haha. So, my plan to get back on the wagon is to make sure I catch up with my reading challenge. I am behind by 4 books I think so I need to read like 25 pages every night of four just right to comfort books to get back on track. A lot is going on but I am going to make it a priority. This way, I am meeting my goal, I am happy with my reading life and I can fill life again with pages from my favorite thing to do. I still have my log and frankly, the big Xs on the last two weeks of January made me cringe, thus, here we are. (sad face) Also, since my physical calendar log is working for me, I will continue to use it, as well as logging my quick thinking while and post reading here on Goodreads.
How about you? What's your plan? Share it here.
