Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope your week is going well and your weekend plans are full of relaxing and reading. I thought we could check in on those goals as we move into the weekend.

A few questions for you:
What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
What is your favorite book so far?
How's your team and individual challenges going?
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?

Now is also a great time to go in and update your Individual Tracking and the Community Spreadsheet with your reading progress!

What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
The last week of school has been busier than I expected (I really should have known better...). I'm going to be slammed today but hopefully it will slow down going into the long weekend.

What is your favorite book so far?
Dear Child was fantastic... if you like twisty thrillers, this is the one for you.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
The Jolo Pirates currently have one of every type of ship! I'd say we are certainly looting the heck out of... other ships? Who do pirates steal from?

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I finished three books over the weekend, which was great.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I'm at 7 books for the month, and I'm hoping to finish at 9, so I think it's manageable. If I actually take the time to sit and read instead of working lol.

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2992 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Work has been busy this week so most my progress was at the weekend.
What is your favorite book so far?
Bookishly Ever After
How's your team and individual challenges going?
Our team is two books away from a full set of ships and well on the way to a spare or too. Good thing too as we've been hiding all our loot in the rowboats...
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
Read two and a half books and found some Orlando Bloom gifs for the team 🤣
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish The Devil and the Dark Water and keep up crew moral.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
I am having trouble concentrating on print books since having to have my cat put down on Monday. Thankfully I have been able to concentrate better on audiobooks.

What is your favorite book so far?
The Upheaval

How's your team and individual challenges going?
I have read 6 of the 10 books I have planned to read for the individual challenge so it is going well.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
see above

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I have 4 more books to read, three of which are print books. I may have to switch those out for audiobooks to get through but that is fine.

message 5: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1497 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? I haven't had many distractions. Friday will be my day of distractions. I hope to get a few hours of reading done but it will be in the evening when I am tired.
What is your favorite book so far? I have two. Legendborn (Legendborn #1) by Tracy Deonn. We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker. Both 5 stars.
How's your team and individual challenges going? Great. Caribbean pirates are busy with all our rowboats & are close to completing their first fleet. Our co-captains have kept us rowdy pirates on task. My individual challenge is also going great. I have finished the pink line & had so much fun I am doing it again. The pink line is really helping me with my TBR list.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I have completed 3 books & a poem.
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? Finish two books for a total of 5 books. Also to continue having fun. I have really enjoyed the pirate theme. Caribbean pirates have great spirit.

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 1025 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
The usual daily grind: work, working out at the gym, etc. Plus I've had vehicular issues, but am back on track now!

What is your favorite book so far?
Definitely The Secret Garden, a reread after 50+ years!

How's your team and individual challenges going?
The Madagascar Pirates appears to be doing well! I love the way everyone is working together and trying to troubleshoot those prompts that seem to be the most illusive!

Regarding the Individual challenge, although I initially thought I might only complete 5 or so of the prompts, I think perhaps I'll get closer to completing all 10. That excites me! It would not have been possible if other team members hadn't completed some of the more specific/difficult prompts! With that help, I've been able to juggle my books for this week to better accommodate the individual prompts.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
Reconnected with an old classic from childhood (The Secret Garden) and discovered a new-to-me mystery series (Mrs. Pollifax) that I will definitely continue reading!

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Just to read as much as I can to help my team and to fulfill as many of the Individual Challenge prompts as possible.

Kendra | 2088 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Nothing big, just normal life intruding and bad weather putting me in a bit of a mood.

What is your favorite book so far?
The Witch's Heart - I haven't finished it yet, so I hope it ends well, but I'm loving this.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Our team challenge is going well, only one 500+ page book short of a full fleet (Which won't be finished by me). I didn't do the individual challenge because I can't handle reading in order.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
3 graphic novels, 3 books finished and 1511 pages read so far.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I have a couple of books I want to read before the end of May, and then I have several library books that I need to read before the library takes them away from me. So we'll see how many I get done over the next few days.

message 9: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 348 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Finding the time to read. Work has been the main distraction. But I have had family in town as well.

What is your favorite book so far?
A Star Rising by Gary J. Darby

How's your team and individual challenges going?
We are doing pretty well. We are one book short of having at least one of every type of ship. I haven't been doing the individual challenge so far.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I have read 4 books and am almost done with a 5th. For a total of 1580 pages so far.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I want to finish my 5th book and at least three more before the end of the read-a-thon. (Maybe I will try the three book pathway for the individual challenge.)

What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
A very positive distraction was that my 2 adult children were here for 4 days, first time we were all together since 2019 so I did no reading for most of the time.

What is your favorite book so far? I liked the Sherlock Holmes add-on The Last Moriarty. I only realized after I finished that this is the first of a series, so I have more to add to my TBR.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
I think we are doing well, but I haven't paid as much attention as usual.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I have finished 3 books.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I would like to finish 3 more.

Johanna Ellwood (jpellwood) | 327 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Trying to help my high-schooler with his English assignments. On the plus side, I counted my reread of The Great Gatsby for this challenge. Thirty years later and I still don't really like it.

What is your favorite book so far?
So far, Fangirl.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Team challenge is going well I think. I haven't really been paying attention to the individual challenge. I'll go over there next.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've read 4 books - 2 weren't even in my radar at the beginning of the challenge!

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Get one more book read!

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? Work as usual but unfortunately a friend passed away unexpectantly
What is your favorite book so far? Still just reading Horns and it was pretty good and I'm right at the end but I'm not really enjoying the ending.
How's your team and individual challenges going? Our team is doing really well. I didn't join the individual challenge this time. I'm behind on what I wanted to read.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? Not much yet
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? To complete Horns and read In an Absent Dream. I'm hoping I can still read and finish Between Shades of Gray. It's supposed to rain Saturday and Sunday so we'll see.

Kathy E | 3314 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Some appointments, work, family.

What is your favorite book so far?
The Salt Path by Raynor Winn is a wonderful book about a couple hiking the South West Coast Path in England.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Our team is doing great. My individual challenge is going well too. I'm doing the black path.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish The Fire Blossom for a book over 500 pages. I'm also almost done with Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. I hope to start and finish Housekeeping.
