Im 4 chapters in as well, interesting story. I know ill be reading ahead because once im gripped by a story i will keep reading...
I'm about 10 chapters in and I like it so far! I haven't read a lot of fantasy recently so it's interesting trying to get back into it
I should be finished with the book by the end of today. I’ve definitely had many thoughts on it so far. Can’t wait to discuss with y’all!
I started it this morning while walking to the bus stop, didn't listen to much of it - up to the point where Alison and the Brie were at the party and split that didn't intrigue me much (but also it's the beginning so no surprise) BUT then at work it was slow and I wanted to read something and I finished that chapter and now I want to know more.
Also, I wished I got to the Selwyn part in the audio because I was ???? how do you pronounce it while I was reading it 😂

At first, I was hesitant that I wouldn't get hooked the way I wanted but that changed. Lol super thankful for the audiobook because I was botching everything!

I am enjoying the book more....I am starting Part Three Roots...I only have the ebook for a few more days....I will be done on weekend and ready to discuss....
ohhh....its starting get really good now....have to put it aside and go to work....hope everyone is enjoying as well
I finished chapter 7 and I'm liking it a lot. It gives me older fantasy books from 10ish years ago vibes and I love that. I hope I'll be able to listen to it more tomorrow because I'm curious.

I don't have a specific book in mind. Well maybe I do, but I don't feel like Obsidian reminds me of this.. it's just the feeling I got. Since Obsidian was 😬 cringy and basic 😂

The one that keeps coming to mind for me is City of Bones.....some aspects of it are quite familiar

I read City of Bones but that was a long long long long long time ago so *shrugs* but thinking of things I know about it, the series, I see it now too :D

I read it years ago but doing a BR this month for it....after reading COB wonder if I will see more similarities..
I finished and it was quite the book. Was there a part of the story that you enjoyed more than others?
What about Sel vs Nick?
Isabella wrote: "I just finished it! So incredibly good! Someone yell about this book with me.Also, I like Selwyn and Nick a lot. I think I am one of few that genuinely enjoy Nick and Bree's relationship though. ..."
yeah I'm intrigued about this love triangle too! I didn't necessarily not like Nick but he was just so 2D? & is it just me that hated when he called her B ahaha
Okay I read this really fast because I really enjoyed it! So my thoughts:I know I have a type and by that I mean that the second Sel was lurking in those woods, chapter 1, I already knew...
I really wish I used the audiobook for this one because I know my pronunciations were all wrong, even when Deonn tried to write it out.

😂😂😂 yep, I second the second we met Sel. I'm 37% into the book and I'm just waiting for Sel moments.

I read chapter 25.
Still liking it. I like the Arthurian mythology that's involved, however I think I don't gather the magic fully. I mean, I'm even confused if I understand it or not 😅 but either way I like it.
One other thing that I like, that makes the book feel more real and shows me to a small extent, because I haven't/can't be in that situation and feel like that, is how black people are treated. You can feel the discomfort and frustration, and anger.
I don't mind Nick, it's kinda cute that she's growing close to him. And for a change it's not the first guy, with dark vibes, that we meet that's the love interest, so I like that. However, I'm still leaning on the Sel side because of those vibes and nothing else. It's not like he appeared much in the half of the book that I read.

The feeling when you accidentally pick up a Group Read at the same time as the group! First time ever I'm (kinda) participating lolChapters 1-12

Finally I made a bit of progress (finished chapter 31). I'm liking the magic, and secret society stuff. I'm glad we are finally getting to know more about Sel. Last time I said Nick and Bree are cute, and they still are, but like Brianna said too insta.
Yes! Alice is back in the game and I'm so glad because I didn't like that we had a best friend but then she didn't appear in the book much.
I did not expect the Arthur thing, it's a surprise but also it feels a bit too much. I mean 3 in 1 is kinda pushing it. Either way I really enjoyed the book, too bad we have to wait a year for the sequel.

I have about 100 pages left. This book took me completely by surprise. So far, I really enjoy the Rootwork of the story. I might have to start tee shirts that say Team Selwyn or Team Nick.
