Welcome to the The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 1 Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on June 14th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Chapter 1: I freaking love the first chapter HAHAHAHA

Chapter 3: I love how Tatsu keeps ignoring his "bro"... and lol gets him to a cooking class? HAHAHA Didn't expect that x'D

Chapter 4: I really like this manga hahahah I'm laughing with all that he does, when he gets INTO the car, how he patronize the yakuza and sometime he just ...makes them cry? hahah

I read the first volume last year and really liked it! I'm excited to finally get to the next four though. I need more laughs!

O.M.G! The first volume was hilarious! His wife is so cute too. The Policure apron scene killed me.

I liked the first volume more than the second, but I like the series!

Chpater 12: I waaaant that cute kitty cat peeler! hahaha

Chapter 15: I thought the competition was about taste... But no! IT was all on instagram! lol and thanks to Tatsu's wife he wins! hahaha

Chapter 16: Lol I loved the volleyball match hahaha

Finally got around to rereading the first volume and man did I forget how hilarious this manga is!

(view spoiler)[My favorite parts where when he was trying out the knives in chapter 2 and ended up scaring the scammer, the glove scene with the rival yakuza at the end of chapter 4 (Tatsu is so good at getting people to like him without even trying lol), and the entirety of chapter 7 when he has to babysit the little kid. I can't believe he took the "death" of the broken figurine so seriously 😂 And when his wife catches him and he immediately bows in forgiveness 🤣🤣🤣 (hide spoiler)]

If I didn't have to go into work I would've read the second one immediately but I'll just save that for tomorrow.

(view spoiler)[Chapter 19: OMG The cockroach. THE COCKROACH! LOLOL Miku hit him hard HAHAHA I knew the cockroach would win. No one can do anything against a flying cockroach.

Chapter 21: I don't know you, but I want to eat all the dishes.

Chapter 22: Tatsu's so cute thinking of Miku with that extra money <3

Chapter 23: I do love seeing the other yakuzas acting as regular peasants hahaha That Torii woman was amazing <3

Chapter 26: Love the women looks after Tatsu finishes doing the dog's food. They seem like a household mafia or something hahaha

Just finished volume 2! I didn't love it as much as the first volume but it's still an enjoyable and quick read!

(view spoiler)[Tatsu imagining all those people aiming to assassinate him in chapter 14 was too funny. Especially the moment when the grandpa pulled out a rocket launcher from his tiny walker 🤣

I've had my suspicions that Tatsu is a foodie ever since the first volume and his instagram competition in chapter 15 just confirmed it! Hope we get to see more of that other yakuza in other volumes.

The volleyball scene was pure gold. I love seeing all these housewives easily getting along with people who are obviously yakuza.

The best scene by far though is in chapter 17 when Tatsu proclaims that "My wife's smile is the real first place!" Now that's a man who knows how to appreciate his wife 💗

Volume 3 is complete! While I'm still enjoying the series I wonder how long the momentum can last for me. Has the series been consistently good for everyone else so far?

Yeah, Miku just decking Tatsu in the face in the first chapter was absolutely hilarious 😂 Great chapter to start this volume with.

Tatsu as Santa Claus...I feel bad for those children lol.

I love how yakuza never know how to react to Tatsu.

Ms. Torii has my heart 😍 I hope we see more of her in the next volumes because she and her tsundereness is so cute.

Oh my goodness the Policure scene 🤣 I loved seeing that otaku guy hovering in the background and the bulletman being afraid of Tatsu! Those Policure girls and their constant smiles kind of freaked me out more than Tatsu though 😅

That whole scene with his boss was pretty sweet. Those dogs were cuties!

I need more of the Househusband Sensei bonus manga. That was too good!

I'm loving how much this manga appreciates cats.

Huge cringe with how this mangaka depicted the Black neighbor. With all the mangakas who are able to draw Black people accurately now when I come across one who still draws their Black characters in this racist way I can't help but grow disappointed in their work. How hard is it to not give them white lips?

Their date to the ranch was so adorable! Tatsu was so excited, how cute!

The whole bubble tea scene was amazing. I can't believe Tatsu has a "guy" who tells him where to get the best deals 😂

That retelling of Momotaro needs to be a whole show 🤣

Seriously, him and his wife are so cute ❤️ Miku's got him wrapped around her little finger!

I hope Tatsu's old boss ends up with that old lady!

Oooh she had kitties! <3 I love the faces of Tatsu and the yakuzas after they found out hahaha

About the black character... Well, Japanese in general are so racist (and sexist and homophobic ugh). So they probably don't mind at all?

Chapter 30: Loves their faces after it started raining x'D Poor little souls. I hope they can go again later hahaha

Chapter 31: Oh, the crepe yakuza again! :D
They really like to do things the yakuza way, even buying tapioca x'D And their faces trying to attract people... I love them.
Now I want some bubble tea ;x; Hand-crafted, for sure haha

Chapter 33: On Momotaro's retelling... I love how Tastu is Momotaro, his apprentice the dog and the other two are our tsundere woman and the crepe man! Hahaha x'D

Chapter 34: Really, who's more yakuza, Tatsu or Miku? Hmmm I love them both, though, and I want to have the image of Miku holding him bride-style x'D

Chapter 35: If I was a kid I would love to make a personal project during the summer <3 (hide spoiler)]

Volume 5 complete and I'm done! This has definitely been my favorite one since the first volume.

I love how Masa has become the master and Tatsu the student in the first chapter.

Oh my goodness, that rap battle! I can't believe how sensitive that other yakuza was when Tatsu made fun of his clothes 😂 And when Tatsu quickly apologized! That was so good 🤣 🤣 🤣

Ms. Torii is looking fine as a witch 👌🏽 Love seeing more of her! I know that little girl won the trip but the real question is who won the rice?

Tatsu's reaction to Miku saving him a slice of the fruit tart was so cute!

If only we could fight viruses the way Tatsu does lol. I think that was the first time I've seen him without his shades and crazy yakuza expression and he also looks pretty good 😉 I need to stop falling in love with anime characters lol.

I feel bad for Masa having to deal with all those drunkards. They all handle alcohol horribly 🤣

I'm totally shipping the Kunimi boss and his underling 😂 He baked him a cake, how can I not love that!

What have you guys thought about the series as a whole so far? Was it consistently funny or did it have its ups and downs? I feel like while it's entertaining it can get a little boring if you read all of them in a row. I've been putting off watching the anime until I was done with all five volumes, so now that I've accomplished that I plan on getting the anime watched. Thanks everyone for reading them with me!

Yess the rap battle was good, and when he apologized.. hahaha

Chapter 39: Oooooh!! A battle between the three yakuzas? Yes! This would be fun! hahah
Love Torii's speciality LOL And crepe man costume <3
But Miku's face when the kid wins... Is more yakuza that the ones the others do hahaha

I'm starting to understand why Miku and Tatsu are so good for each other hahaha!

Chapter 41: Love that father-daugther cooking time and how Miku's mom got to them before they ruined the hotpot haha!

I'm wondering if Tatsu got his nickname because he beat a clan that stepped on a floor he has just mopped. I think it could be a valid reason hahaha

I think it was a nice and fun manga, but it had it's ups and downs. My favorite were 1st and 3rd. I porbably won't watch the anime now, but maybe in the future ^^
It was nice to BR! Though we didn't have a lot of theories to comment on this one. Thanks to you too Raquel! If not for this I wouldn't have read it~
