Since ShoSho was kind enough to turn Ezi's running commentary from Chapters 1-7 into DQs for us, and Ezi was kind and brave enough to tackle DQs for Chapters 8-13, I'm going to volunteer for DQs for Chapters 14-19, since I'm one of the other folks that wanted this book this month. I'll try to get them up by tomorrow sometime!

I just got book 3 from the library. Yay me...but I'm gonna read moonlight as I loved that book 1 as well.These are great picks.

I read that part again. She knew . She told Downey's mom :"Downey told me you knew they were sexually active.Involved. Committed ." Downey's mom said :" Yes I found condoms .It broke my heart..." .
I clearly remember from book 1 that she said she'd had the talk about pregnancy and sex with Ashley.
2.Downey is doing what young people do. I can understand that. 200 texts is EXCESSIVE girl. I agree with Downey, it's stalking.If I text you twice, maybe three times and get no response, well screw you too! Comments ?
Yes I understand him wanting more experience and Ashley's heartbreak and obsession . Angsty teenage romance is one of the reason I don't read YA. Teenagers think it's the end of the world if they lose love of their lives(!!!) at 16!
3.Sarah: I thought this heifer had gone all in with Cooper cashing in her chips. Why not talk to him and share her woes with him? At least talk to Landon. He is a kid, but he isn't a kid, you know? Why won't she commit to him when they love each other?
I'm not happy with Sarah so far. She should trust both coop and Landon and talk to them. I hope she commits before the end of the book ,I'd be real angry otherwise
4.Listening to Cooper say that he loves Sarah in the forever way and will be patient. That he can outlast her doubts sounds like stuff women say.

Yes that's exactly what G & M relationship is . CJ will cause more heartbreak before disappearing again.

Not normal but not unexpected for a teenager. Gina did the right thing

Yes both the girl and Downey.
❖Were you surprised by Downey’s mother? Was there some truth in her opinions?

I think she really wanted the medical history , nothing else. I liked him , we'll see more of him

My dad wouldn't let us date exclusive before we were 18 years. He said we were too young to be "acting like you are married". I plan to insist upon the same with my kids. I will have to insist that they not sleep around though--so that part will be tricky. Gina knew, but I think she liked to pretend for Ashley’s sake that she wasn’t aware of it. However, I think that Gina really needed to have a talk with Ashley about how the relationship could end up, just so that she wouldn’t be hurting as much as she is currently.

Mom had been having sex in high school and got pregnant. Ashley took precautions to not end up in the same boat, but at the same time, she didn’t guard herself from the hurt that could be caused by Downey’s leaving. She wanted the loss of her virginity to mean something, I think, but when Downey threw it away, she felt used.

Can they sue the girlfriend or Downey for what they(she) did? I don’t know for certain, but Assault isn’t out of the question!

maybe Gina was in denial, or her head was buried in the sand, but either way not good. Especially considering that she was so young when she got pregnant, she should have been having an open dialog with Ashley.

I agree, that is stalking. If Gina had tried to have the open dialog with Asley, perhaps Ashley's self esteem wouldn't be so low. Being in a serious relationship at so young of an age is just asking for heart ache!

I think she is really trying to come to a decision on her own, even though she's in a relationship with Cooper she hasn't completely committed to him. I think she will decide to stay in Thunder Point, but wants to look at the consequences of her decision from all angles.

I know right?! I don't know if it's possible to sue but I hope it is! At least scare him into believing he can be sued! Make him go on social media and apologize! And Downey defends his pig of a girlfriend for sending those photo shopped pix! Ashley doesn't appreciate it yet but she is so lucky she's not with that butt of an ex any more! She'll see the light by the end of the book! Well at least I hope!

No, not normal but not everyone reacts the same. She's feels things on a deeper emotional level than the average person. Gina did the right thing by getting Ashley counseling.

Even though he was pretty sure the boy was his, he wanted no doubt in Sarah's mind so it was best he wait for the test result be fore he told her. I agree with his decision.

I thought it would help her make a decision on whether to take the Coast Guard job or turn it down. I hope she turns it down, I think she will!
Chapter 10:

Cooper started out nervous, not really certain how to act around a young boy but then Austin warmed up to him so that's heart warming. Spencer is wonderful through everything. Supportive of the new relationship between Coop and his son!

Not really, I think he must have had a crush on Ashley when she was Downey's girlfriend.
❖ Why do you think Cee Jay wants visitation with the kids right now? What do you think about the decision to exclude Aunt Lou? Were you surprised at how the visit went?
CJ is mixed up in something shady along with that fake lawyer of hers! And then there's the bigamy. She wasn't divorced from Mac when she married her second husband! What's all that about!? What a dog! I wasn't too surprised by Eve's action but I was by the younger children. I thought they would be more curious and want to spend time with CJ. Mac was great the way he handled himself!

I think they are trying to use the kids in some kind of leverage to show CJ is responsible, a good citizen or something.

Just for the medical history. I think he'll want to visit Ashley some time in the future, that should be interesting! I think Eric cleaned up his act and deserves a second chance with his daughter.

Trea's Questions for Chapters 14-19 23. So Marjorie Downy had Downy before she was married to Crawford Sr. Why do you think she’s looking down her nose so much at Gina being a single teenage mother? Were you surprised at the events of the anniversary party?
Maybe because she doesn't know everyone else knows ! I've seen people like . for example they say X is a liar and they themselves are even worse .

24. What do you think about the fact that Ashley has no serious plans for the future, even in Junior year. What do you think she would have studied at State when she followed Downy there, and what do you suppose she might do now? Do you think she’ll wind up with Frank Downy by series end?
Probably nothing . She hadn't thought about even that. Downy dumping her was the best thing that happened to her . I think she will end up with Frank in a few years
25. So, it seems Mac’s Ex likes to gamble…could this be the reason why she wanted to get back with Mac and the kids, to get them to pay her debts? What do you think of the way Mac handled the situation on a more permanent basis?

It seemed everyone else see it coming except Gina and Mac . Their families took it very well . Nah why should they wait ?!
27. We’ve gotten a few updates about what’s going on with Jag and the trial. What do you foresee happening to Jag in prison? What do you think about how it has affected the town, specifically the head coach?
It makes sense that he is disappointed and tired . He should have sensed what was going with Jag.
28. Eve and Landon, huh? Do you think they have what it takes to go the distance, in spite of the little scare Eve has had? Where do you foresee their relationship going, especially in light of what has happened to Ashley this book?
They'll be together , I don't see them breaking up . They are very mature about it ,they are handling their relationship pretty well . I like it
29. What do you think of Eric coming to visit Ashley? Do you think the visits will continue?
Yes we'll see more of him
30. Downy’s back and trying to get back into Ashley’s good graces! What do you think about his excuses? How do you feel about how Ashley stood up to him?

32. How did you like the “on again, off again” aspect of the book? It was supposed to be Mac and Gina’s book, and yet a good deal of the focus was on the relationship between Sarah and Cooper, especially with Cooper’s proposal overshadowing Mac and Gina’s wedding. Thoughts and opinions?
A lot of the first book was about Mac and Gina so that's OK and the title of both books referred to Cooper .
33. What do you think about the parting shot with CJ and her girlfriend? Do you think that they will be back in some fashion to cause more trouble for Mac and Gina?

34. This “interlude” dealt with a lot of emotion! Do you feel that too much time was taken on the angst that was happening in the lives of the major players, leaving less time for an actual romance?

I gave it 4 stars and yes I will read the next one .
I've read so many books by Robyn Carr ,I know what to expect . The romance doesn't get that much page time but what you get is satisfying . A couple's story is never over . They can be back on the spotlight at any moment (just like the real life ). I'm really enjoying the series

It seems a little extreme to me. That despondent over a guy, to be suicidal? Too excessive. Likewise, the hospitalization was also very extreme. There were other measures that could be taken before that.
❖Would you seek Legal recourse? Against whom? I would! Against Downey, his parents and the new girlfriend for defamation of character. If Ashley had committed suicide, add wrongful death to the mix.
❖Were you surprised by Downey’s mother? Was there some truth in her opinions? I was surprised by her response, but at the same time I don’t think what she said was completely true. Does a girl just lay down and get pregnant all by herself? I don’t think so!
Chapter 9:
❖What do you think Spencer & Bridget Lawson nee Cunningham have to tell Cooper? Not certain…probably that Cooper had a kid with Bridget at some point.
❖What do you think of Cooper’s decision not to share with Sarah the result of his trip to see Bridget Lawson? Do you buy his rationale? No! Cooper should have shared what was going on! Just like Sarah should have shared about her possible promotion. He’s just compounded the issue and made it worse in my opinion.
❖Let’s all speculate about Sarah’s response had Cooper told her. I think Sarah would have been supportive had he mentioned it, but it would have placed an additional burden on her about her decision about her promotion. Cooper’s no longer as unencumbered as he was.
Chapter 10:
❖ What do you think about the interaction with Cooper, Austin & Spencer? It’s odd. Austin is too impressed by Cooper’s toys, it’s like Cooper is buying Austin’s curiosity/loyalty/admiration. It’s as if it is too ready-made, too easy for Cooper to have a loving son.
❖ Are you shocked by Frank Downey’s support? Oddly, yes. I thought he’d be on his brother’s side. Makes me think he wanted Ashley for himself.
❖ Why do you think Cee Jay wants visitation with the kids right now? What do you think about the decision to exclude Aunt Lou? Were you surprised at how the visit went? CJ is coming off as a master manipulator. Her decision to exclude Aunt Lou is because Lou can call her on the bull she is trying to shovel to the kids. I kinda figured the visit would go the way it did.
Chapter 11:
❖ Let’s try and figure out what’s going on with Cee Jay and her attorney? I suspect…CJ is out of money and has come back to Mac to get money out of him to go away. Blackmail payment to stay away from the kids, something…
❖Why do you really think Gina went to see Eric? What are your impressions of Eric? Have we seen the last of him? The medical history was important, but not important enough to go to the lengths of the insurance check hoax and a face to face meeting. The face to face was to satisfy curiosity about the guy who left her and for drama’s sake only. Eric seems like a good guy, that finally grew up, but I don’t think we’ll see too much more of him save for the occasional visit to Ashley.
Chapter 12:
❖ I like how Spencer has handled the situation with Cooper and Austin. Do you foresee trouble with this gang? Not unless Cooper wants a much larger relationship with Austin. I think he’s content to leave it as is for the time being.
❖We now have Downey family sighting. Crawford & Frank...do you see what I see? Downy’s mom is a total b*tch! Crawford is the favored son, he can do no wrong. Frank is an afterthought to all of them, and yet I think he’s using Crawford’s screw up with Ashley to move in on the vacated territory due to a huge crush on her.

Trea's Questions for Chapters 14-1923. So Marjorie Downy had Downy before she was married to Crawford Sr. Why do you think she’s looking down her nose so much at Gina being a single teenage mother? Were you surprised at the events of the anniversary party? Heck, no! Downy has no clue about the shark that has her teeth into him, all he cares about is the sex. I think Marjorie keeps snubbing Gina because Gina succeeded at raising her early baby without the aid of a man at all while Marjorie trapped her baby’s father in a now loveless marriage. Marjorie is jealous of Gina, plain and simple.
24. What do you think about the fact that Ashley has no serious plans for the future, even in Junior year. What do you think she would have studied at State when she followed Downy there, and what do you suppose she might do now? Do you think she’ll wind up with Frank Downy by series end? I’m kind of wondering why she never thought she’s be any more than a ballplayer’s wife. What would she have done when Downy couldn’t play anymore and couldn’t support them? She would have had no marketable skills! It seems like she’s on the right track now, and has a lot of options open to her. The psychology idea seems a really good one, especially as she’s lived what she would be counseling about! As far as her and Frank goes, I do think they’ll end up together by series end somehow.
25. So, it seems Mac’s Ex likes to gamble…could this be the reason why she wanted to get back with Mac and the kids, to get them to pay her debts? What do you think of the way Mac handled the situation on a more permanent basis? I think Mac did the right thing, turning the tables and blackmailing her with the fact that she’s a bigamist. It showed that he had a weapon against her as well, one she might not cross him on.
26. What do you think about the timing of things concerning Mac and Gina blending their families? Does it seem sudden? Do you think they should wait until Ashley and Eve go off to college? To me, it is sudden, as they’ve only been secondary characters for two books, but with the length of the relationship, it makes sense. However, I believe that they should have waited until the girls were settled in college.
27. We’ve gotten a few updates about what’s going on with Jag and the trial. What do you foresee happening to Jag in prison? What do you think about how it has affected the town, specifically the head coach? I’m just hoping Jag’s bad karma catches up with him! I don’t like how the head coach felt he had to quit because of it, but I see it was just a plot device for other things in the book.

Even though Cooper proposed and she accepted, I don’t believe she’s over her commitment and trust issues.

It was supposed to be Mac and Gina’s book, and yet a good deal of the focus was on the relationship between Sarah and Cooper, especially with Cooper’s proposal overshadowing Mac and Gina’s wedding. Thoughts and opinions? I actually hated it! The GR blurb made it seem like the focus would be on Mac and Gina, but the split time wound up being very confusing to me and I kept having to flip flop through chapters to pick up the thread of what happened with each couple when something good was happening!
33. What do you think about the parting shot with CJ and her girlfriend? Do you think that they will be back in some fashion to cause more trouble for Mac and Gina? They might try, if they run out of money or they’ve got trouble with the casinos or loan sharks. I’m wondering if CJ is romantically involved with this chick, as it is never made clear in this book.
34. This “interlude” dealt with a lot of emotion! Do you feel that too much time was taken on the angst that was happening in the lives of the major players, leaving less time for an actual romance? Yes, I believe that this book was too angsty and not enough romance happened, as if it was written like a soap opera!
35. How did you rate it? Will you read the next one? Any lingering thoughts about the book or series? I’m giving this one 2 stars and won’t be continuing with the series. The flip flopping was just too much for me, and it makes me worried for trying to read Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series!

Trea's Questions for Chapters 14-1923. So Marjorie Downy had Downy before she was married to Crawford Sr. Why do you think she’s looking down her nose so much at Gina being a single teenage mother? Were you surprised at the events of the anniversary party?
Marjorie has a superiority complex and a selective memory! Downey's behavior doesn't surprise me, instant gratification and feelings of entitlement come to mind!
24. What do you think about the fact that Ashley has no serious plans for the future, even in Junior year. What do you think she would have studied at State when she followed Downy there, and what do you suppose she might do now? Do you think she’ll wind up with Frank Downy by series end?
Ashley's still trying to figure out who she is and what she wants. She's just gone through a traumatic period and she's starting to sort things out! Not so sure what she would have studied, probably some undergraduate courses and didn't plan on declaring a major until her sophomore year. Who knows? She's already said she'll attend a local CC her first year then find a college to attend, then her and Eve talk about traipsing through Europe. As for Frank, he's into college but also wants to remain 'friendly' with Ashley. Romance could be in the future for those two!
25. So, it seems Mac’s Ex likes to gamble…could this be the reason why she wanted to get back with Mac and the kids, to get them to pay her debts? What do you think of the way Mac handled the situation on a more permanent basis?
Mac wants what's best for his children and what's best for them is a loving stable home which doesn't include his ex! Of course she wanted just his money! not the kids, not Mac, not his or his childrens love, she's evil! He handled the situation perfectly!.

Not sudden at all! They've been friends for years and even though they've only been a 'couple' for a few months they've been attracted to each other for a long time, why put off the inevitable?! Times a wastin! LOL!

He'll be someone's b*tch in prison. The town is doing just fine without him. It wore the coach down though, he feels guilty that he looked the other way!

Their relationship looks steady but they're still young and anything could happen. Ashley told her mom that her and Eve want to visit Europe after college so it looks like they'll do their own thing for another 5 years before they settle down with each other, if they do!

I see Eric continuing to be in Ashley's life. I think it's good for both of them. Eric sees his daughter and his second chance to be a father.

I'm surprised Sarah hasn't come to a decision. She's seen how a military career can wreak havoc on relationships, just look at Buzz. Not only that but Landon loves it in Thunder Point, I'm a strong believer in family first. I am surprised her answer wasn't revealed, oh well, gives me something to look forward to!

I liked all the interaction between the couples. This is a small town community and I think the author was successful with bringing that feeling to the book. I live in a small town and I know everyone gets into each other's business. I don't think Cooper's proposal overshadowed Mac and Gina's wedding.Gina and Mac wanted something small. They got the big welcome home reception from the town, that's was the important part!

I really enjoyed this book. This story is more like real life. The angst in this book is nothing like the angst I've read in other books! It's probably why I enjoyed it so much, it's refreshing to me. The romance was perfect.

Yes, I see Ashley with Frank and I like it. He's got his head on straight, which is a shocker coming from his family background. Ashley not having a vision of her own future is part of why she invested so much into Crawford. Now I understand why she thought her life was over since he kind of was her life.

I think the writer got a little lazy here. There is NO WAY a man that rich wouldn't have had his lawyer investigate Cee Jay. Before, during and after their marriage. I don't see why they wouldn't have found a few things out about Cee Jay. Look at how easy it was for Mac to find that stuff. I don't buy it.

Mac and Gina have been together for 6 years, they are just making it official and legal now. So it's not sudden at all, in fact, I was in the "what took you so long" camp.
They don't need to wait for Eve and Ashley, kids adapt and Eve & Ashley are practically sisters anyway.

One side of me agrees; Downey is only 18 years old. He’s very immature and struck with 15 minutes of fame as a star at college. Still, Ashley totally lost it. While my heart broke for her, it reinforces that that age is too young to have sex; few have the emotional maturity for it. What really pushed my button was Downey’s mother – though, why Gail called her beats the pooh out of me!!! – she felt her son was blameless, when, if he had gotten Ash pregnant, any court of law would have made him pay child support. Plus, she did NOT raise a gentleman; he should have contacted Ash before dating another female, especially given the degree of their relationship.
3. Sarah: I thought this heifer had gone all in with Cooper cashing in her chips. Why not talk to him and share her woes with him? At least talk to Landon. He is a kid, but he isn't a kid, you know? Why won't she commit to him when they love each other?

4. Listening to Cooper say that he loves Sarah in the forever way and will be patient. That he can outlast her doubts sounds like stuff women say.

Cyber Bullying: Defamation of Character. It is a shame Ash destroyed her phone; it would show the effect of this. I knew from the first the “new” girlfriend was going to do something, just not what; there was something “off” about her. I was feeling a bit for Downey before this happened. But how he could be so insensitive as to not consider Ashley’s feelings with all that has happened shows what a dick he really is. But, he may get what he deserves with that “new” girlfriend of his. However, I’m worried about Ash losing weight.

Chapter 8:

I thought it was a good approach. Best to take it seriously, while not overreacting with a lot of drama. Yes, she needed to be hospitalized; it is easy to for people in an emotional crisis to get extremely dehydrated, which can weird out their electrolytes, which makes things even crazier.

I answered the first in the previous section. As far as the “truth,” this is stereotypical belief is one that has been passed down from generation to generation. The “truth” of it is that the girl still gets the label of “easy” where the guy gets the label of “stud.” As old as I am, people questioned this in my day, yet it still holds true. How many generations will it take before it fades away?

I was surprised, even though it did cross my mind when he recalled “one last time for old times’ sake” gambit Cooper used. However, when she requested him, I thought it was that she had had an abortion, or some such.

Nah. He should have been open with her.
