Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Hi!

I've read the first 7 chapters and I want MORE. I loved the first book and I'm so glad that we have more female characters here!

I forgot a lot about the worldbuilding, but I reallt like Maggie <3 I wonder what will happen between Ben and Maggie, but I think they do a good hunter's team.

Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments I also forgot a lot about the world building. I kind of wish there had been a little bit more of a reminder about what happened at the end of the previous book, but I slowly remembered. This definitely started out with a bang! I was surprised how quickly it hit. I look forward to see how Ben and Maggie work together over the course of the book.

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments After reading the 14th chapter... I understand the title hahaha Poor all.
As the first book I'm really liking it! I love how the author keeps the suspense without revealing too much. <3 <3 I'll make a more consistent comment tomorrow but I want to read moooore about them!

Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments YES I was getting grossed out not gonna lie. Like I should have known because of the title but I was still surprised and not very happy with this turn of events.

Also Kai's message to Maggie broke my little heart! He wants her to be safe and he probably thinks he's a lost cause. Ugh. Them <3

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments I was shocked when Maggie started to describe him as so beautiful and all. I didn't remember she was so... In love? Haha But maybe waiting for him has intensified those feelings.

Soon Maggie will have a nice little town around her house haha I did like Clive, and I'm sad that he's not with them. But! I do love Ben and starting to like Mósi and her cat ways hahaha

And after reading chapter 21... Wow. What a cliffhanger.
I totally understand why people (women) didn't want to go away from Dinetáh. I hope none of them are hurt or raped D:

Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments I can only imagine Maggie is going to pull some total badassery and get everyone out safely, but I got chills and felt a little nauseous when that guy was talking about her being breedable and selling the women. It was disgusting and is honestly one of my biggest fears. I am going out of town this weekend to look for apartments near my new job (yay!) so I may be reading ahead a little bit tonight now that I'm so invested!

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Oh yeah that "breed able" sounded sooo creepy. Maybe she will kill someone though she doesn't want to haha
Perfect! Comment as you want, I'll keep reading as scheduled for the moment~ Co gratis for your new job and good luck finding an apartment! <3

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Fortunately, we didn't have to fear anything, though I'm glad they killed the rapists. I'm still not sure about Aaron an his religious/closed mentality, it's... weird to have a man like this in a group of women. I was as shocked as Maggie and Rissa when he said that "all women just wanted to be married" WTF. Men. *rolls eyes* haha

The ending of chapter 26 was AMAZING. I loved how Rissa was so eager to destroy Knifetown; and then they laughed like "HAHAHA we did and awesome massacre down there!"

I didn't expect to see Coyote again but I'm so glad! I really liked the character (oh, yeah, maybe I have something for trickster gods) and I just want to know what happens next.

Every time I see the cover of the book I wonder who de woman with afro hair is. I don't know if it's Rissa (though she usually has red hair with braids?) or Mósi the cat.
And I think the explosion on the back is Knifetown for sure hahaha

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Okay, edit for my comment about he cover: I'm sure the scene is based on Knifetown and the afro woman is Rissa because on chapter 30 says "her red hair haloes around her hair in tight curls". Mystery solved! :D

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Book finished!
I'm sad that you weren't home to comment more, but I hope you had luck finding an apartment these weekend *-* I will remember the book for a few days, so comment as you want! :D

I'll put my thought on spoiler~
(view spoiler)

Btw, I put it on Playstation Pursuit 1 (Indigenous author) BUT I think it can fit Nintendo Trial 3 (road trip), if you want to put it on another prompt ^^ OR other one too, cover with more than 2 people, a woman on the cover...

Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments Hi yes I had to get caught up with assignments for school once I got home, so I didn't finish the book until tonight. But I did find an apartment and paid my deposit yesterday, so that's a massive stressor off my shoulders :)

I was definitely creeped out by Gideon too once he actually showed up. I wish we had been given more about his backstory with Aaron. I also feel like Aaron was kind of wasted potential? Like you said, it was weird that they just let him travel with them and there wasn't very much animosity or anything. (view spoiler)

There is absolutely NOTHING about book 3 on goodreads and I am stressed! I want to keep going with this series!

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Ooh that's amazing news! Congrats! (not con gratis lol autocorrector decided to change it to spanish)

I'm not sure about Aaron. Gideos kissed him to swarm him with locusts and ugh it was disgusting. But as you say yes, no body, no death. Maybe he will be a swarm or something next?

I was sure the 3rd book was announced but it seems not D: But it has to be for sure! That ending wasn't to finish a series... I think it's one of the few post apocaliptic series I like haha (I'm not reading any other though)

BTW I was sad too that Kai didn't appear :( or Clive followed them because those two are two cinnamon rolls I always want to read from <3

By the way, searching for the book today I found an article that the author was doing cultural apporpiation O.o I was shocked, but on her tweets she said that she was adopted by Native Americans, so she's not by blood. I don't know but I feel there was so much hate for her for that reason and I really felt bad for her. I mean, one doesn't really HAVE TO be born on a culture to know about that, and on the aknowledgements she said her family was proud about it.
Haha sorry for the little debate, but it shocked me and wanted to comment it!

Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments I have heard that but didn't know many details! I knew she had married into a Navajo family but was not Navajo herself. However, she does have native blood but things are messy because of both her personal family history and the way the United States has historically and continues to treat indigenous people.

I am not native so it isn't really my place to say, but she was adopted with no real chance to grow up knowing about her own culture, so she has used her husband's tribe as a jumping off point. I don't see anything wrong with that, but I can see why indigenous folks, especially Navajo tribe members, would prefer these stories to be told by their own people if they're going to be told at all. Much to think about!

Bopeep (bopip) | 1088 comments Totally agree on that~ But it's also nice to be presented with those stories on different backgrounds. I probably wouldn't know anything about them if not for this book +Riordan imprints.

What I don't understand is that people that aren't Native American criticizes her for doing that. It's like being on the other side of racism but doing the same: hating. Duh.

Sorry for that little complain, sometimes I don't understand humanity!
