Finished my first book today. I also have a weapon on cover book that can be used but also works for a few others.

We’re doing really well with 11 rowboats and a schooner so far. We are also only 7 books away from completing 1 each of the ships.

We currently need to complete (with number of books on spreadsheet that fit task not yet finished):

A short book <300 pages (4)
A book with water on the cover (0)
A book with a mostly green cover (1)
A book about friendship (2)
A long book 500+ pages (2)
A book that features a fantastical creature (4)
A book with a weapon on the front cover (1)

I’ve cleared the colours from the schooner tasks. Feel free to read for these tasks so we can get a second schooner.

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Thanks for the overview Lori.

message 54: by Kat (new)

Kat | 567 comments We have a ship! Well done everyone.

I've been feeling rubbish the last couple of days so haven't got as much read as I would like. Should finish 2 in the next couple of days.

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

I’ve added a completed tab and moved all the completed book info to this tab. This way we can see how many unfinished books we have for the options we need to complete.

I’ve also added a column which shows how many ships we have completed for each type.

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Yay for our first ship! Well done guys!

message 57: by Ira (new)

Ira | 361 comments I finished reading The Eyes of Tamburah by Maria V. Snyder. My edition is 446 pages long. Now I have to figure out where it fits out of the remaining prompts. I am open to suggestions

message 58: by Kat (new)

Kat | 567 comments I'm not sure it fits one of the prompts we currently have left. You could start a second schooner as it is part of a series.

Ah not sure what I did there. I thought I was assigning it to one which had A book whose first letter of the title appears in ZHENG YI SAO - and I thought the A counted. But I'm clearly a bit confused!

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay, second ship completed

Hannah | 384 comments Ira wrote: "I finished reading The Eyes of Tamburah by Maria V. Snyder. My edition is 446 pages long. Now I have to figure out where it fits out of the remaining prompts. I am o..."

I've not read this, but there is often an element of friendship in books like this, and that prompt is open still if you think it would fit.

message 62: by Ira (new)

Ira | 361 comments Yes it could fit. She is trying to save someone she considers a friend

message 63: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Just finished the Golden Tower by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black. It has fantastical creatures, friendship and is a part of a series. All those are taken. Should I start another ship for the fleet?

I'm putting Ira's book for friendship.

message 64: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I've got a short YA book with a green cover. Should I go for that or read on in my fantasy tomes?

message 65: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I've just added Shroud for a book with a green cover. Our third ship is now completed!

message 66: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I'll hold off the green cover then.
I started another galleon with the Golden Tower.

message 67: by Emma (new)

Emma | 101 comments Has anyone got a book with water on the cover?

message 68: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments my current book has snow on the cover if we can stretch the prompt?

message 69: by Emma (new)

Emma | 101 comments Good idea!

message 70: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I’m reading one with water on the cover. I should finish it today or tomorrow.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

We only have 2 tasks to complete for Sloop and then we have completed one of every ship. We are covered for the two tasks with what is currently being read. So, no need for anyone to start a book to cover for the first sloop. Obviously, you can choose tasks for the 2nd sloop or any of the other ships.

message 72: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments I'll put my book in for a short book then instead and leave the water prompt for Hannah. Then we've got one of each!

message 73: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1337 comments I'm half an hour away from finishing Catch Us The Foxes - so I should be able to do that on the train ride home from work!

message 74: by Emma (new)

Emma | 101 comments I’m working my way through two medium length ones that won’t be dont til Friday or even Saturday but I reckon I can fit another short one in. Is there anything we really need before I choose a book?

message 75: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Morning all! I'm finishing a short book written in first person today.

message 76: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I've just finished my book for water on the cover, so the sloop is now built! It's quite late here now, so I'll choose my next book when I get home from work tomorrow based on where we have fewest options.

message 77: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I finished First person singular and put it for author initials in Yoho ... bottle of rum. It also works for written in the first person ;) and a short book.

message 78: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Good night! It's also late here.

message 79: by Emma (new)

Emma | 101 comments Morning all! I’m on the last book I’m planning to read for the readathon. I need a few days off to recover- I think I’ve reached overload status. I’m going to read my last book on audio and give my eyes a break!

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

Not only have we completed our first sloop, we have also completed our second brigantine and galleon.

The tasks we need to complete to obtain 2 of every ship are:

A short book <300 pages x2
A book with water on the cover
A book whose first letter of the title appears in ZHENG YI SAO
A book that you feel is fast-paced
A book whose first letter of the title appears in DAVY JONES' LOCKER
A book that is part of a series
A book written from first person POV (I, me, we)
A book with a mostly blue cover

message 81: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I'm currently reading Before they are hanged, and put it on the planning sheet. Of the ones mentioned above it's fast-paced and part of a series.

message 82: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments ... and I'm over halfway so I'll finish it (it's also long).

message 83: by Emma (new)

Emma | 101 comments I’ve got one with water on the cover and another with 1st person POV

message 84: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I've just finished The Quiet American and put it under one of the open prompts for a short book. I'll push on with my audiobook whilst cleaning my house today and I should be able to finish it today / tomorrow. I'll have a look at the spreadsheet later this evening to see if anyone else has finished any books, and where the gaps are most likely to be before I choose my next book.

message 85: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments My current book seems to have vanished from the plan sheet. Does anyone know how to get it back? I can add it again but the O column has all the formatting removed which I don't know how to fix either!

message 86: by Kat (new)

Kat | 567 comments How odd. I've fixed the formatting issue but no idea where you're book has gone.

message 87: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Thanks Kat, I'll add it back on. It's a mystery!

message 88: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments I just finished my third book of the week. I don't know if I can squeeze another one in before the end but I'll keep the pages updated at least

message 89: by [deleted user] (new)

We have 4 books to go before we complete our second sloop and schooner.

A short book <300 pages
A book with water on the cover
A book that is part of a series
A book with a mostly blue cover

We have more than 1 person currently reading for all of these tasks so hopefully we’ll finish these without a problem. Not sure that we will be able to finish any of the other ships but we can definitely earn more rowboats.

message 90: by Bec (last edited May 29, 2021 09:38PM) (new)

Bec | 1337 comments I just finished The Midnight Library. Would you say it's a mostly blue cover? The Midnight Library by Matt Haig Navy blue?

message 91: by [deleted user] (new)

Bec wrote: "I just finished The Midnight Library. Would you say it's a mostly blue cover? The Midnight Library by Matt Haig Navy blue?"

Looks navy blue to me. I’ve put you down for blue cover. I finished my water on the cover book. So, now we only have a book in a series and we will have completed 2 of all the ships.

message 92: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments Good morning, team!

We are so close to getting 2 of all the ships! There are 6 books currently being read that are part of a series, so I assume at least one of them will be finished today.

Looking at the options for the books currently being read, we might even be able to get another sloop. The only prompt we don’t have a book for is the under 300 pages book, but I have a few that I could read quickly, if needed. Off to look through my TBR now...

message 93: by Emma (new)

Emma | 101 comments I have just finished Strange tides, and have completed the last boat as it it part of a series. So now..... do we just get as many more pages as we can?

message 94: by [deleted user] (new)

We might be able to get another sloop as we only need 3 books to complete but it will depend on whether team members are able to finish books today. If you can’t then just read as many pages as you can.

message 95: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments Lori wrote: "We might be able to get another sloop as we only need 3 books to complete but it will depend on whether team members are able to finish books today. If you can’t then just read as many pages as you..."

I’ve just finished Home and put it under book less than 300 pages. It fits the other remaining prompts, so it can be moved if needed.

I have no plans beyond sitting out in the sun and reading today. I’ve just looked at my bookshelves, and found 6 books, all over 100 but under 200 pages, that work for multiple sloop prompts, so I’ll be able to read some of them this afternoon.

Thanks!
It's Sunday night here for me so I'm not going to finish any more books.

message 97: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I’ve just finished two books to complete the sloop! I’ll be reading a bit more tonight, so I’ll add my pages to the spreadsheet before I go to sleep.

message 98: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Well done crew! I ended up babysitting my nephew today so didn't get any reading done today. Please don't make me walk the plank lol

message 99: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Well done everyone! I ended up having a busy week, so I didn't participate as much as usual. I won't be able to finish more books, but I'll add the pages later tonight.

message 100: by Kat (new)

Kat | 567 comments Well done everyone. I'm finished with my reading for the week. It's been intense but fun.
