Jason | 168 comments On pg 133, this book is great

Jason | 168 comments Begins fast, political machinations then some straight up action. Slick fast paced all sorts going down.... Excellent stuff so far

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments Agreed with the jump-in. I'm about a quarter in after Starting over the weekend. Tau's getting a bit annoying as a character though. Nice to have a second POV mixed in there for a moment or two.

Jason | 168 comments Tau is very driven for his own goals, but I see him calming a bit the queen is a good influence, and I can see a bit of future afters being served later on down the line to Tau, by someone.

Jason | 168 comments Excellent book, straight in non stop, this has action but the story is good as well, love the characters, and the fact nothing is really black and white as it seems. Action has repercussions. This book is fast, thoughtful, social and damn good, can not wait till the next instalment.

Alexis | 205 comments Picking this up now. I'm really excited about this, plus we had such a great conversation with Book 1 last month. I can't wait to see everyone's thoughts on this one.

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments How's it going everyone? I had a tough time getting started even though it was paced just like the original and then it started clicking for me again and ended up another quick read.

I find it interesting that the author is writing this really for his kid. It feels very YA for much of it, but then the violence and some of those scenes from book 1 make me put the breaks on giving it my kids.

Tau/Tsiora...c'mon already.

I thought Evan Winter id a good job of integrating some info dumps and magic system into the plot. There was one point that made me laugh where Hadith wanted to know about how magic worked and he was cut off. It felt like a nod to a certain type of reader who wants to know how things work more than the plot being driven along.
