I love these stories. With each new book, we travel a tough road with Kim and her team. I'm always surprised when an author keeps surprising me with unique and moving stories that keep a series fresh. What a great writer!
Amen! Couldn’t say it better.
I don’t know how long it will take me to come to terms with Kevin not being here anymore. I’m a bit adrift about it.

I am in a good place, as I have read all the books except for the latest release. The author does an amazing job helping the characters, and the readers, grieve and heal as the series progresses. And I agree, Sharon, this series continues to be first rate!
Loving this series more with each book. As with the Karin Slaughter Grant County/Will Trent series its not about the cases for me. It's the character development and interaction. Looking forward to seeing how this heart breaking development affects each member of the team. Imagine being Kev's replacement. Oh my.
Lisa, I’m with you. The cases are fascinating but it’s the character development that makes me enthralled with the series.
Lisa - I'm wondering who Kev's replacement will be. Does anyone think it will be the guy who they borrowed from another precinct in the last book? (I can't remember his name.) He is kind of a computer nerd like Stacy. Maybe Kim would then give Stacy more field time?
Sounds good. They know him. It might make it easier since he isn't taking Dawson's place per se. He is returning to his previous position.
I think this series is phenomenal but I’m still trying to process Kevin’s death right now. I think with each book we learn more about the characters which makes the story more interesting. With Kevin’s death we will learn even more about the rest of the team as they each deal with his death.
It takes the series in a different direction entirely. Guilt, grief, learning to live with what happened and having to keep going as murder doesn't stop in their line of work.
Teresa & Lisa, good points. The next few books will be interesting. I wonder if they are going to go "try out" different people before deciding on one. It is a great opportunity to grow and/or reveal a lot about the remaining characters.
Teresa, it took me days to stop thinking about Kevin’s death. I struggled with creating the questions for the discussion! All I wanted to deal with was his loss.
I agree with all of you, but I also have a question. Why wasn't Devon at the funeral with Stacey? Is this an indication that Devon isn't ready for that kind of commitment or was she just forgotten?
