There is no pressure - just enjoy yourself and be focused - you never know what you might accomplish when you are relaxed and confident.
I am going to be finishing up The Secret History and I'll be trying to get through as much as possible of The Killer Next Door
by
Donna Tartt
by
Alex Marwood
Both great ones Ebony. And you are in New Jersey so you will kick off in another four hours. Glad to have you.
Ah very good Samanta - two to finish - I know that I will finish my book because I am very close to the end but saving it for the readathon.
I'be been saving Letter from Mexico for that purpose, but the other one is my work literature and I'm already overdue in the public library so I have to finish it. :D

Good for you - don't forget the citation in message 60.
Readathons are always the best time to clear the deck.

Kristen that sounds interesting and Jill it looks like you a good couple of books to complete and begin.
I really need to finally finish
by
Hernán Cortés.The poor books is starting to get cobwebs waiting for the next readathon to arrive. :D
Unfortunaly, this time, I won't be able to participate fully because my aunt is coming to visit me for the weekend and I'm taking her out for some live salsa music in the evening. :)
I've had Amazing Grace (biography of the British abolitionist William Wilberforce) languishing half-read on my Kindle, so I plan to start with that.
by
Eric MetaxasIf I need a second book to keep myself amused, I'll probably tackle The Beauty and the Sorrow ("An Intimate History of the First World War").

Peter Englund

Doris - both books sound wonderful and should keep you going.

I'm planning to read Foucault's Pendulum. Since I already have a Readathon bookshelf, do I just add that one to it? Also, do I need to update my challenge entry? It now says I wanted to read 2 books and did read them (during the last Readathon). Should I change that to 3, i.e. is the book count cumulative?

Yes, you can do that as soon as you finish the book. And yes again go back in and update your challenge entry goal. Yes, the three does not mean three more but three total. And you can keep updating it as you go along,
Thanks for the clarifications, Bentley. Also, if I don't manage to finish the book during the allotted time period, do I not add it to my Readathon bookshelf?
When you finish it you can add it. And of course it always counts to your totals as well as 50 Books.
Garry good choice - let me show you how to do the citation - book cover (you have done a good job), then author's photo and then the author's link.

The goodreads software populates our site across the threads and adding these three segments helps to accomplish this for all of the members.
I think the choice is an excellent one. Let us know how you like the book as you go along.

So even if I finish a week after the Readathon, I can then add it to my Readathon bookshelf? Sorry to be such a pest, but I want to make sure I'm following instructions.

I have been allowing that - but if we get into prizes for completions during the readathon which we might someday - then it would not count for that.
Great choices Glynn - you might want to place your citations at the bottom of the message box - it makes it easier - here is an example: (however you got all the parts in) - you appear to be from Melbourne, Florida on East Coast Time so you should be signing in to Checkpoint One - the first Check In - add your template and what you can put in now and then go back and add the rest at about 11:45 AM and then at Noon you would do the same thing but checking in to Check point Two.

I will be finishing up on one book and then starting on another - the books in order are:

I think for this Saturday's readathon I am going to read
by
Sarah Vowell. It will be the first book I have read by this author, so we'll see how it goes.
For Sat, Oct 24 readathon, I really do need to finish:
by David I. Kertzer (no photo). Book is due back to the library on Oct. 28 and I am out of renewals!IF, I finish that one, I may go on to:
by
David Roberts
I have quite a pile - I think I am going to try to make some headway on a number of books:
by
Tim Weiner
and
by
Anthony Doerr
by
Tim Weinerand
by
Anthony Doerr
by
Hernán CortésApparently I only read this book during Readathons.
by
Anthony DoerrI need to catch up with the group since I started reading 10 days later.
That's the plan for now.
I'm midway through Mornings on Horseback, so my intention is to finish that first.Where I go from there (assuming that I need a second book) is still up in the air. One of my main candidates is Spillover: Animal Infections and the Next Human Pandemic, which actually looks like a logical successor to last month's The Sixth Extinction. If I decide that I don't want to try to scare my pants off, though, I may go with Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend, about Satchel Paige, or The California Gold Rush and the Coming of the Civil War.
So many choices....
