I read this book around 2015 about a boy who moved to a new house and discovered one of his old family members secret library. In this library he learns to practice alchemy and drinks these potions that seem to take him to a different dimension. While he is in this dimension, butterflies follow him around letting him know how much time he has left. During his explorations he finds something evil and ancient hiding under his house.
