Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story?

Lynn (ftbooklover) I really liked this story much more than Hot Blooded. The New Orleans atmosphere was much more prevalent and the mystery was far more interesting. I read a negative review that said the romance was lacking, but I thought it was a perfect complement to the story without taking it over. This book was definitely meant to be more suspense vs romantic suspense.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I also enjoyed this book more than the first one. I loved Olivia's character - she is just so feisty and endearing. The slow burn relationship with Bentz is also better than Sam and Ty.

Nevertheless, I do think that the book could have been shorter. There is a section just before the end that is overly drawn out and could have been written more tightly.

Also, I am still not a fan of Montoya. He is a sexist jerk and Kristi really comes across as a spoiled brat at times.

Both of them have their own books, but the first two Savannah books come before. I will probably read them even if we don't add them to the buddy read just to cleanse my palette for Montoya and Kristi, who will hopefully mature before their own stories.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I liked this book. It had more of a New Orleans flavor to it. I have to admit that I'm not a Kristi fan. I tried to put myself in her shoes. She is dealing with a lot, even so, she rubs me the wrong way.

As Lauren mentioned, there are some parts that seemed to long to me. I like long books with a lot of detail normally. However, Cold Blooded seems to have details that I could skip.

The characters were interesting. Olivia was my favorite. Her "gift" was presented nicely and believable. I like Bentz and Montoya. I want to know what happens with Rick and Olivia. Is she going to be used again in solving cases? I'm ready to read about Montoya. There is a story there.

That is a good question. The impression I got was that her psychic ability was connected to the fact that Sutter was her biological brother. So, I have to wonder if it is gone now that he is dead.

Now I thought that her psychic for this case was connected with Sutter, but she has experienced events in the past.

I got the impression that once she left New Orleans, she didn’t have any episodes but when she returned, they returned. I’m wondering whether all of them from the past were connected to Warren.

So, Trish LaBelle is now working at WSLJ. I think there’s gonna be a story there (she’ll be a victim).

I liked this story so much more than the first.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) I'm in the minority here, I liked the first book better.

I agree, this one was a tad long and all that psychic connection thing didn't do it for me. I liked Bentz but not the love triangle with his brother either. But I enjoy the series and of course reading along with you gals.

I think with a few years maturity Montoya and Kristi will be good leads.. They don't end up together do they, LOL. Not sure what Bentz would think of that!

This is how I understood it as well. She had to be in close proximity to Warren for the psychic episodes to be triggered.

I really hope not!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I'm not sure Montoya and Kristi would work for me. We'll see what happens.

Oh…no. That’s all wrong.

I wondered if Olivia's gift was directly involved with those she was related to. Correct me if I am wrong, but the other specific example I remember is when Olivia saw her sister's death before it happened. Both are about her siblings. Do we have any other examples?

I have a hard time picturing Olivia regularly helping Bentz with his cases. I was hoping that Olivia's visions were limited to this case. I think they were really hard on her, and I would hate for her to have to see murder regularly.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Hannah wrote: "I was hoping that Olivia's visions were limited to this case. "

I also hope they are limited to this book because of her biological relationship with the killer. The tone established for the series is not paranormal, so continuing with this theme does not feel right to me.

The author seemed to make a point that her connections were within New Orleans. I hope you’re both right that it was only related to that biological tie.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I missed that the visions were related to her family. For some reason, I thought her visions were more often than that; she didn't like having them, and tried to suppress them from a young age.

I don't want her to be involved with every case. For me, it would be fun in Bentz asked her to help on difficult ones.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments This bothered me so I had to run to the library for the book. I'm sure there are more discussions than I found (I was debating buying the ebook for easier search) but it does indicate that all her visions don't revolve around a family member.

Olivia mentioned that her vision started at young age, before she could remember but they were less defined.

Later she said they come and go over the years but they were stronger in New Orleans. She thought it was the connection with the bayou country.

Bentz did research on her and wondered why she never had any in Tucson, but Sarah mentioned that the visions always gave her headaches when she had them in Tucson. My guess is they weren't as vivid to make her go to the police.

I'm thinking if they continue to live in NO, Olivia could have visions about cases that Bentz works. We will see.

Thank you for investigating Sharon! If her visions are connected to other things, they could potentially show up later. Personally, I don't want them to be involved in more of Bentz's cases, but it would be interesting to see how they could be if Jackson decides to go that route.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I don't think she will be involved like this book. This story was connected to closely to her.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) I hope not, the whole visions thing in solving crimes isn't really believable just my opinion. It worked here because of the family connection.

This is my perspective as well.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Lisa and Lauren you are probably right. The more I think about the series wouldn't be Bentz and Montoya if Olivia was helping solve crimes with visions.
