The first book had a dark red or dark purple cover with a sword on the cover. There may have been blood on the sword
One of the later books (I can't remember if it was the second or third) had a snake on it. It may have been green, gray, or gold.
Characters/Plot:
The first book opened with a girl who's name might've started with a K (Kathrine, Kathleen?) and she was running after a gazelle/deer? I'm pretty sure she could communicate with it. She interacted with a guy from her village who was going to the main town/city/kingdom??? to fight as a gladiator or something.
When he left, K followed him. He realized someone was following him and set a trap, but she didn't get caught and eventually revealed herself. They went to the city/kingdom together. Before or after one of his fights, I think she talked to a panther.
One of the other characters was a somewhat manipulative girl who may have been the princess of the queen. (Pretty sure the queen was the main antagonist)
Either in the first or second book she was kidnapped and tried to seduce her captor I think. (I could be confusing that part with a different book)
In the later books, she was sold/married off to a mad king. In one scene he started throwing people off cliffs to make them fly and then wanted to make her fly, but she took off her clothes instead. Later, the mad king was murdered.
