I thought I'd let you know that I was the guest co-host for the Sword and Laser podcast in April, for episodes 408 and 409. I've been a part of the Sword and Laser book club for over ten years! The usual co-host has been out on parental leave so they've been bringing different people in every month. They always do a tournament/crowd-sourced book for March so it made sense to have me on there as a member of the club.

They have a mix of science fiction and fantasy, news and book discussion. The book for April was The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, which was really the feel good book of 2020.

On a personal note, it was nervewracking a bit for me! I usually host AND edit the podcast so I can take out what I see as awkwardnesses or breaths that are too loud, but I had no control. But it was a lot of fun.

Kim | 30 comments For whatever reason I’ve never listened to Sword and Laser despite it being mentioned in several other podcasts I enjoy but when I saw your posting I finally decided to give it a try and listened to both episodes while on my morning walk.

I don’t really “need” to subscribe to another bookish podcast...but I’m going to anyway:-) Thanks Jenny for giving me the nudge - I enjoyed the format, the host (and the guest cohost!), and the length.

They're always about a half hour, every other week... I honestly have always wanted more book discussion from them, but I get it from their forums also in Goodreads. Some very devoted fans, including me.

What Kim said. Not sure why I haven't subscribed before. I'm glad I have, I'm really enjoying it.

When the usual host returns, it will be even better! They have a great rhythm.

Your two shows were really good and today's show was fun. I'm kind of murderbotted (is that a verb?) out right now but I will probably have to read Wells's full length novel eventually.

I hear that - I read them back to back to back to back to back. And as such I don't remember much, lol.

Chris (chriswolak) | 11 comments I haven’t listened to that podcast but will check it out. Seriously nerve wracking to not have control over editing. I’m getting used to that myself!
