We are already on our fourth reading wrap-up of the year, which means we are a third of the way through the year. How are you doing with your yearly reading goal? I’m doing pretty good with 14/40 books read. Now onto the Wrap-Up!

This month I read…

The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore- I listened to this on Audiobook. I’ve been trying to do more Non-Fiction Audio’s lately as I find that it’s easier for me to read that way. This has been on my to-read list for a long time and I’m glad I finally got to it. The story of what happened to all these women and what kept happening because no one would admit Radium was dangerous was definitely heartbreaking and made for an interesting listen. Although some parts of this seemed a little too dramatised for my liking seeing that it’s a non-fiction book.

What You Wish For by Katherine Center- If there is a book in which the character is a librarian, odds are I will read it at some point. Haha. This was a very cute entertaining read. Very cheesy when it comes to the romance and very predictable when it comes to the plot, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless.

The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah- I’ve never read any Kristin Hannah and a friend read and recommended this to me. I love historical fiction, so it’s right up my ally and it didn’t disappoint. Wonderful, heartbreaking story. I’m going to be putting more Kristin Hannah on my TBR for sure.

A Place Called Waco: A Survivor's Story by David Thibodeau- Sigh. I wanted to like this, I really did. It’s terrible what happened in Waco and I hope those mistakes are never repeated. I feel for the survivors and all the lives lost, but I could not get past the authors brushing over and even defending the faults of David Koresh. If you ignore the fact that he took sole sexual ownership of all the women in the facility (even the married ones) and slept with multiple pre-teen girls, then sure maybe he wasn’t such a bad guy, but I can’t ignore that. Not saying that means he deserved what happened in Waco, but still. It seems to me the author very much still holds Koresh up on a pedestal.

What did you read this month? Be sure to share down below!

Happy Reading!

Brandye (brandyeedwards) | 43 comments I just finished my 108th book so far this year.

Last year, I had a goal of 10 books per month and figured I would do the same for this year. Then I had covid hit our house in Jan and had to quarantine. Needless to say, there was plenty of time for reading. Since then, Ive somehow managed to keep the pace up of over 20 books a month.

My goal was 100 books for the year, so no telling how many Ill get by the end...
