Sign-Ups and General Questions for Summer Days 2021
Yay I've been looking forward to this! I would like to join a group and I read about 50 books a year.
This will be my first summer days so I'm excited! I would like to join a group and I'm not really sure how many I read a year as I've only just started counting but I'm averaging 3-7 books a month at the moment.
I'd love to participate too! Maybe I won't participate much on June because exams but I'll do my best on July. MuahahahaI read ~50 books per year ^^

Bopeep would you like to join a group or go solo?
I would like to join a team again. I read over 200 books last year but I will be spending a week with my 2 nieces and nephew who are between 1 and 5 so not much reading that week.
One of my favorite summer activities! I would like to be in a group please :) I average around 130 books a year.
I want to participate this year! In a group, if possible. I read about 20 books, and at least 10 audiobooks
Leah wrote: "I want to participate this year! In a group, if possible. I read about 20 books, and at least 10 audiobooks"Of course! Anyone can join a group!
Folks we are three group sign-ups away from unlocking our first three group team names (and the soloist group name)!
Okay, I'm joining. A team please :D
my reading this year is going to be looooow, so it's like 5 books a month.

Yay! I'm interested in joining a team!I have read more than ever before this year, which is crazy. If my trajectory continues, I'll be close to 100 books this year. I'd like to challenge myself and use that as the team goal :)
Very excited!
We've unlocked our first three team names and the soloist team!Team 1: The Passionate Pac-Man Perfectionists
Team 2: The Diametrically Opposed...Duck Hunters (view spoiler)

UPDATEDIf you're on the fence about joining us because your yearly average isn't something ridiculous like 150+ a year (love you wild readers who can do this), I'm going to let you all in on a little secret about the games:
The group that reads the most books isn't necessarily the group that will win the games
A lot of it comes down to strategy and participation. When the teams are posted, I will be providing each team with a spreadsheet template they can use to track their progress (you absolutely do not have to use this, but it really, really helps) and provide some tips and tricks to max out your points.
Katie wrote: "A spreadsheet TEMPLATE????? Laurel, you are too good to us!"haha thank Mina—I'm pretty sure she's the one with a template that's really nice. If not, I can modify the mods template for group use (obviously you'll each get a copy of your own to use, not ours :P )
I'd like to join. I normally read about 20 books per year (I'm obviously trying to make that number rise haha)
Yep, it's me, I have THE spreadsheet :D Although I don't like how it looks so I may remake it or something.
mina wrote: "Yep, it's me, I have THE spreadsheet :D Although I don't like how it looks so I may remake it or something."I loved going over your spreadsheet when you were running a team. It is a work of beauty, just *chef's kiss* perfection
mina wrote: "Yep, it's me, I have THE spreadsheet :D Although I don't like how it looks so I may remake it or something."ah yes THE spreadsheet is truly a work of art <3

Thank you, the whole credit goes to this amazing girl, Selina. She made the sheet for our team for the Winter Wars, and later when I was learning how to make one for my next team I looked at her's.

And Selina taught Faith, who developed our current mods spreadsheet!

It's almost time for summer and my second favorite game of the year, SUMMER DAYS (Fright Night is my favorite because of the awful puns I get to create).
HOW TO JOIN
1. Reply to this thread with "I want to participate in a group" or "I want to participate by myself," and the number of books you read/listen to each year (this isn't to judge your reading habits but to attempt to create balanced teams).
2. The deadline to join a team is May 20th
3. Anyone can join Summer Days as long as the competition lasts, but after May 20th all newcomers will be soloists.
RULES
✧ Members will be broken out into up to 3-4 separate teams (or go solo option) before the start date (June 1st). You will work together to complete a series of tasks together and complete as many of them as you wish.
✧ Books must be read and reviewed during June 1st through July 31st Any books or audiobooks started before June 1st or finished after July 31st will not count.
✧ If you read an Audiobook version of a book convert the hours to pages using this site: https://alamantus.itch.io/time-to-page or use the print equivalent on Goodreads.
✧ Graphic/Manga novels are accepted but will only count for half of the listed page count
✧ You must post at least 3 status updates OR a review. It doesn't have to be super detailed but try to not just say "this was good" for the book to count.
POINT SYSTEM
+1 point for every book that has been read and reviewed that correlates with a category
+2 points for participating in a buddy read (must take place in the group)
+3 for one completed category
+4 points for reading/participating in a group read (must take place in the group)
+5 points for every 1,000 pages read
Note: Mods keep track of all points in a shared Google Sheets spread to keep everything as organized as possible.
