A young boy is left at the gate of a town with amnesia he is taken in and lives at an academy type place where they train boys to fight. He is an exceptional fighter. His memory starts to slowly return. He is the son of a great heroe from hundreds of years earlier prophesied to come in a time of great need. I read it maybr 3 yrs ago. Would love the name please. I know it was a series but only the first was out at that time.

Was it the Heroes of Olympus series? It could have been the first book, The Lost Hero, but your description kind of sounds more like the second book in the series, the Son of Neptune.
