The first book begins with the girl in some sort of government facility (a hospital, I think), where she is led to believe she is in there for a reason. I think it could also have been a juvenile prison. Anyways, she leaves the facility after around a year of being there, and joins this group of other kids her age that are in the same situation.
She cannot recall details of her life before entering the facility. She meets this boy, and they fall in love.
The twist is that there is a chip in her head that is preventing her from remembering her life before the facility. This is because she was a main leader of the rebel group that is trying to topple the gov. The first boy love interest has some affiliation with the government. The first book is mainly centered around her slowly remembering things.
The second book is where the second boy love interest is introduced. He is the leader of the rebel group (or at least part of it). She cannot decide who she’s loyal to. One of the main scenes involves a main characters death, and one of the boy love interests end up selling her out for information, I think.
The majority of this book is about trying to get her memories back.
The series is around three books long, and centers mostly on her trying to reconcile who she once was, with who she wants to be. I think a main theme is that she no longer fully agrees with the rebels, but doesn’t side with the government either.
