The Last Pearl Fisher of Scotland by Julia Stuart 2.5 stars rounded down

Usually I enjoy Julia Stuart's books (I gave two of them 5 stars), and she writes well in this one, but I just didn't like the story. That said, I really wanted to finish it since I wanted to have read all of her published novels (and I hope she writes another some time!). But my favourites by her are The Tower, The Zoo, and The Tortoise and The Pigeon Pie Mystery.

The title tells you who one of the two POVs are and there is a blurb to tell you more, and the irony of my rating is that this book has the highest average rating of her 4 books, but also far fewer of them than her other three even though it's the most recent, so my guess is that this one didn't sell as well and is being rated by Julia Stuart fans. But I did like the ending.
