I would like to introduce my book to the group. Titled "The Loyal, True, and Brave", it covers the period between the beginning of the battle of Chancellorsville to the end of the battle of Gettysburg. The story is told in narrative form through the points of view of four Union Soldiers. These individuals are George Meade, Winfield Hancock, Daniel Sickles, and Henry Taylor, a Sergeant in the 1st Minnesota Infantry. All four played an important role in the outcome of the battle of Gettysburg. History is boring for most people, but its lessons are quite important. I chose a narrative format in order to present the individual motivations and the "why" things happened, while keeping to the historical facts. My West Point education in the history of the military art and my service as an army officer have given me a perspective on why things happened which most historians lack. I have incorporated this perspective into the narrative, creating, I believe, both an enjoyable and an educational read. Over twenty maps have been included to help increase the understanding of the action. The book has received a number of written five star reviews, viewable on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and here on goodreads. For more information on the book, including a downloadable chapter, visit my website at www.robertjsweetman.com/ I welcome your questions and comments.
