Combined. Doesn't matter who the translators or publishers are, but having a look at the different editions for different plays. Makes it a bit difficult as Oresteia is often stated as the title but includes the 3 listed plays.
Having a further look, the names of the plays change, but the work stays the same.Basically, the books I looked at were the trilogy but using different names. There was the odd one that didn't belong and they have been removed.
According to Wikipedia: "The Oresteia (Ancient Greek: Ὀρέστεια) is a trilogy of Greek tragedies written by Aeschylus which concerns the end of the curse on the House of Atreus."However, Anne Carson has used the term Oresteia here for an untraditional collection of three plays by different authors: Sophokles, Euripides & Aeschylus/Aiskhylos.
So this Oresteia has only one of the plays featured in the traditional collection. Plus two "new" plays added in.
I hope this was helpful.
Thank you for looking into this.
The descriptions for the books though are the same stories. And that was before I did anything to them. So if someone who knows more about this wants to have a look. Please do so.
Its certainly a long time since I read Electra, say about 40 yrs ago, in school.
The Oresteia editions compiled & translated by Anne Carson all have the same three plays: Agamemnon by Aiskhylos; Elektra by Sophokles and Orestes by Euripides. These are the untraditional collections (with the plays mentioned above) I'm referring to:
An Oresteia, An Oresteia: Agamemnon by Aiskhylos; Elektra by Sophokles; Orestes by Euripides, An Oresteia,
and An Oresteia: Agamemnon by Aiskhylos; Elektra by Sophokles; Orestes by Euripides
As far as I can tell, every other Oresteia (not by Anne Carson) on the edition pages have the traditional Oresteia with these 3 plays: Agamemnon, Libation-Bearers, and Eumenides, all by Aeschylus.
Because they are collections with different plays, despite the Oresteia title, I think they should have different pages.
The editions by Anne Carson with the works of three authors should indeed be separated from the editions with the works of only Aeschylus.
Could a librarian please separate out the editions of An Oresteia: Agamemnon by Aiskhylos; Elektra by Sophokles; Orestes by Euripides translated by Anne Carson from the editions pages of The Oresteia by Aeschylus? This includes:
An Oresteia, ISBN 1429922923
An Oresteia, ISBN 086547916X
and
An Oresteia: Agamemnon by Aiskhylos; Elektra by Sophokles; Orestes by Euripides, ASIN B0055DLCAO
As explained in the previous posts above, they are currently on the editions pages for The Oresteia by Aeschylus, which consists of 3 plays by Aeschylus, while An Oresteia has plays by Aiskhylos, Sophokles, and Euripides - not the same book at all, which is emphasized by calling it An Oresteia instead of The Oresteia.
Thank you!
Done, with a librarian note not to recombine them. Though this is no guarantee that it won't happen again. Please check the listing and let me know if there are any problems.

The former is filed with a great many other Oresteias with different translators, publishers, and what looks like different plays in the collection. The latter has its own page.
