I read about 1/4 of this book 3 months ago and had to take back, this is all I remember. Each chapter introduced a new character living in Vancouver city as a separate short story, I believe the East end. One character was heavy into drugs and thought he was talking to some famous guy from the past and they had an adventure in the park and eventually the famous guy wanted to ditch him because he wasn't any fun anymore. Another a homeless man's father watching his adult son pick up garbage and he would leave him chickens, one woman owned a thrift shop and her sister wanted her to sell the shop and live with her in some fancy pants guest house... that's all I got..
