In this book, we see the Bryant isn't always the good guy. He has faults too.
Dawson is showing more dimensions too. He has a heart. I hope Marsons allows him to grow up in his relationship with Alison. She pays a high price for loving Dawson. He hurts Alison so often.

I liked seeing Dawson's concern for Stacey. I just wish he had told his girlfriend what he was up to. Why let her suspect the worst?

This was one of the darkest instalments of this series so far and that's saying something. It was really a good vs evil scenario. So many souless people, damaged people. Thank goodness we have Kim and her team to balance the evil out. Not perfect but trying to make a difference.
One thing I'm enjoying in this series is a difference perspective of modern life in the UK. So often when I think of the UK it takes me to royalty, castles, gorgeous countryside and idyllic villages. This show another more brutal side of life. And unfortunately more realistic. A balance to a lot of the historicals and historical romance I read set here.
Lisa, so many stories based in the England are set in London or it’s environs. Until this series, I hadn’t even heard of the Black Country! It does give us another often overlooked view of England.
This story was hard, for me because it dealt with child sex trafficking. This is pure evil.

Sharon, something’s wrong with your comment.

That was weird. I was having problems with GR yesterday.

Jonetta, sex trafficking of children is tough to read. It was really tough on me as they made a big arrest here in Florida recently. Normally, I can put books in a "fiction isn't real" category. When I see this on the news it reminds me how real it is.
