SOLVED. YA Mystery. 5 stuck in snowstorm, 1 meets ghost, solves mystery. Spoilers ahead. [s]

Fiction YA I read in the late 80's early 90's. Seemed to be set in the present at the time. Two teenage couples and one of the girls mother are driving back from somewhere (a sport game?) and get trapped in a snowstorm, so make their way to an abandoned old house. The boys sleep in one room, one girl and her mother sleep in another, and our protagonist sleeps alone. She is given an extra blanket along with the heated brick wrapped in a rug for her feet. They are careful not to burn the good furniture.
Our protagonist meets a ghost who is stuck in the house, and needs to find out how to free the ghost who was trapped by guilt believing she'd caused someone to die (her sister?).
*spoilers*
To do so, our protagonist eventually finds the diary of the ghost's maid who had killed that someone with laudanum, and done it for our ghost. The diary was behind the cutting board that pulled out from the counter. They are rescued after the mystery is solved.
