YA. About a dog who goes on an adventure with a buffalo and hyena

The book was called DOG and that’s exactly what it said in the cover in what looked like bubble letters. Behind those letters was a white background. It’s about a dog who makes friends with a Buffalo and a hyena ( they then Go on an adventure together. )
I read this in 2011. I need to know the author.
