Ari Clark | 2 comments Apologies in advance for how foggy this description is, I'm clutching at straws in my mind trying to remember what little I can. I read it around 2000/2001 from my primary school's library, so that's why I think it's children's fiction, though I remember the book feeling somewhat unsettling for a children's library so maybe it's not. I don't think I even knew the name of the book at the time since the cover was basically destroyed, which is probably what drew me to it.

Someone (a boy I think) wakes up in a monastery with amnesia to find another person (another child I think but I can't remember their gender) who maybe also has amnesia. The monk(/s) in the monastery look after them and help them try to remember what happened to them and in the meantime the children help out around the monastery. POSSIBLE SPOILERS: two strangers eventually visit the monastery and explain what happened to them and that there's some sort of supernatural global event taking place/about to take place, that they're a member of a supernatural race despite appearing human (sort of like angels, but the race had a specific name, I think beginning with "F") and one of the strangers puts their hand through a table to prove their paranormal nature. The story at some point cuts to a meeting with another one of the supernatural beings and a group of human politicians/military/press members having a meeting, with them eventually shocking everyone by disappearing/walking through a wall. The book ends with the children finally leaving the monastery with the supernatural visitors. If I had to guess what it was about based on my loose memories I'd say it's about a rapture occurring just before the end of the world.
