It also appears to apply to the hardcover edition with this cover as well.Media tie-in, with ISBN:

Original edition, listed as ACE:

Publisher's website:

rivka wrote: "Any idea when they went back to the original covers?"Unfortunately, no. I actually only noticed it after my paperback copy arrived yesterday, and that just has the original publication year of the original edition inside the front cover: 2001. The oldest cached data only goes back one month as well.
I'm not too sure what help publishers are in these instances?
Given that the ACEs for the tie-in editions were added in 2019, that seems to imply the switch back was probably fairly recent. So I suggest moving the ISBNs back to the two non-tie-in editions, setting their pub dates to January 2021, and adding Notes explaining. (Links to this thread could work.)
My understanding of the ACE/ISBN policy was that whatever is on Amazon is the edition that carries the ISBN, even if that is not actually the latest cover. Does that still apply?
Sorry, Rivka. I was asking/confirming as to policy rather than this specific case. If it is reliable as to policy that the Amazon edition carries the ISBN, we won't have to ask for each case.

lethe, this is the comment about ACE and Amazon covers that I have relied upon for most recent covers. There may have also been a discussion in another thread, as my memory did not include checking publisher's website. I know I have a book or two on my physical shelves where the cover on Amazon matches the cover of the book I have and yet there is a later edition published with a different cover.https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I have done as you suggested, and put a comment underneath in the Librarian Comments as well as to the change comment.

In this case, I had checked both Amazon and the publisher's sites to confirm which was the latest edition. But they had temporarily released these editions with a media tie-in cover back in 2005, then switched back to the original cover afterwards.
Technically, if you went by the published publication dates on both sites, the media tie-in edition would be the latest edition, but because they've switched back to using the other cover, it no longer is, yet they never updated the release dates to reflect this, as they essentially just reverted to the original edition.
It's obviously not the first time that a publisher has done this, but it was the first case I've come across, hence asking for clarification. I'd rather get advice from Rivka on that than making a decision that might otherwise come back to bite me. ;)
We use the cover currently on Amazon for the edition that gets the ISBN, per Rivka.https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

However, the publisher has now reverted to using the previous cover, as can be found on both the Publisher's site and Amazon.
I believe that the policy change was so that users could always find the latest release of a book, with the correct cover, etc. So, in this case, which should contain the ISBN and which should be the ACE?
