Around 2011 I read a book where a boy went to a universe in the past where silver was worth more than gold. There was a queen that wore masks and had women dress as her in a mask so that her subjects thought she stayed eternally young and pretty. There was a man that joined a radical group that tried to kill the queen but instead he killed his girlfriend who was dressed as the queen. I can’t remember much else about the plot. I think the book cover had a masquerade mask on it and it was a YA book. Thanks in advance for your help
